I haven't seen a thread for this great band, so let me introduce you to it. Neutral Milk Hotel is probably my favorite band period. The sounds are neat and the lyrics are obscurely beautiful, from 1994 the band only had two studio albums before breaking up in 1999. Quick wiki
Neutral Milk Hotel was an American indie rock band formed by singer, guitarist and songwriter Jeff Mangum in the early 1990s. The band was noted for its experimental sound, obscure lyrics, and eclectic instrumentation. The first release under the Neutral Milk Hotel moniker was the 1994 EP Everything Is, a short collection of tracks featuring Mangum. On the band's full-length debut album On Avery Island, which followed shortly thereafter, Mangum was joined by childhood friend and Apples in Stereo frontman Robert Schneider, who contributed production and instrumentation. Upon the album's release, the full band was formed and extensive touring began. Neutral Milk Hotel released In the Aeroplane over the Sea in 1998, which became their most well-known and critically acclaimed album. Although the album did not meet commercial success at the time of release, it has gone on to sell over 300,000 copies and is often ranked as one of the greatest albums of its time. Despite growing popularity, the group disbanded in 1999 after Mangum became disenchanted with touring and the music press, later having a nervous breakdown.
From left to right: Jeff Mangum, Scott Spillane, Julian Koster and Jeremy Barnes On avery island In the aeroplane over the sea Despite this bands relation with hipsters and such I see it as a great band that everyone can enjoy. Really great band, sorry about the wikishit thread, don't bite my head off, but feel free for NMH discussion here.
Oh my god I love this band so much. So glad to finally see a thread.
TBH the only song I really like is the kind of carrot flowers, all parts. they're ok otherwise.
just admit you are a hipster it's okay though, this album makes being a hipster okay
Holland 1945 is my favorite.
I liked The King of Carrot Flowers Part 1 and The Fool. Never really understood why so many people like them, but they're alright.
Fuck NMH, A Hawk and a Hacksaw are so much better
Such a good band.
I really like this band, Oh Comely is probably my favourite song by them.
Communist Daughter is my favourite. Short but sweet and with an odd lyric (semen stains the mountaintops) to confuse people who haven't heard it before.

Listened to ITAOTS, but only really liked the title track. Then again that was one listen only. I'll listen to it again some other time. Avery Island too.
Two-Headed Boy all the way. This is really the only album that I'll sing along to all the way through.
