how do you code a game this SHIT
Low experience developers with a ridiculously high and demanding playerbase and higherups that are trying to milk the game as fast as possible while the hype is still high, no matter the consequences.
Programming 101: Never trust the client
i think they've made a bit of cash now, maybe they can afford better devs
...nah. Nah. We can't do that, it'd change our budgeting and nobody even really cares lmao
- Bluehole on literally everything they've ever made
They have expanded the team significantly since the game took off, but Bluehole haven't ever really been involved in the FPS market, and their hiring is probably still thinking about how they can use those guys for their garbage MMOs in the future.
Thanks for giving the cheat advertisement, morons.
i think they've made a bit of cash now, maybe they can afford better devs
Oh they can afford a lot more, but they wont. Dunno why this is getting zingers I wasn't defending them.
Programming 101: Never trust the client
Don't the replays use the player's client to show you what 'happened as well '? It makes it extremely difficult to tell if someone is cheating or not as what it shows isn't accurate half the time. It should be pretty apparent why it's a bad idea but the devs seem to make all sorts of absurd choices.

This decision in particular actually makes sense, though. Having the server record, clean, limit, and transfer the replay to the clients on-demand would cost them a lot more than just having the client record the replay (badly).

But no where is the cheat name listed, just a video showing what it does.

Blame deadlines, not the devs, man :)
Thanks for giving the cheat advertisement, morons.
Maybe it'll force the devs to fix it faster
Wow, as someone who works in the industry and understands the pressure from the "powers that be" can we please stop blaming the devs here. 99.9% of the time it isn't the devs fault.
Reminds me how source clients can set host_timescale locally and go really fast with the server saying that's no wrong
Isn't that classed as a cheat command, and thus requires the server to have set sv_cheats 1 ?

the devs can't fix every issue instantly, no doubt
however big enough issues like this do need more immediate attention
The more this gets abused the bigger the problem will be. Media attention can force a fix faster merely by word of mouth and the 'upper management' taking notice.
[editline]23rd January 2018[/editline]
That being said the media merely mentioning this it'll get abused even worse, and more aggressively.

I would agree on most other issues, but client-authoritative healing?
At the very least that should desync the client and eventually put the player in a glitchy ghost state where they can't actually hurt anyone/are invisible/can't win.
That and what happens when the hacks outdo the fixes and the game becomes so broken that its unplayable?
This has happened before and will continue to be an issue in many games. I remember battlefront on the PSP going from issue free to every match having everyone be insta-killed

hi fellow dev
99.9% of the time it's the dev's fault

I know it seems like a thing, but if the powers that be say "okay we need this out by X date and it has to at least have Y features" and there wouldn't be enough time to implement full server authoritative networking, the devs would have to make these decisions to please management. It's a shame, but at the end of the day developers still just want to get paid and pay their bills.
