• My computer is haunted?

I am joking, I hope. Since the summer started I have been putting my computer on 'Sleep' mode every night, but almost EVERY morning when I go into my room to unsleep it, it is already on. Someone told me that mouse or keyboard movement/strokes deactivate sleep mode. So I put the computer on sleep then moved the mouse around and pressed random keys on my keyboard, but it won't turn on. Is there anyway I can find out how or what does this, or any possibilities to why it may be turning on? Thank you in advance to anyone that helps :) (I have searched and nothing seems to be helping)
It's probably Windows starting it to do updates.
Every day?
Your computer has been haunted by a insomniac ghost. Get an exorcist.
To the yellow pages! @shadez: I looked it up and I don't think that is the reason.
Yep, it's definitely haunted. Your best bet is to call the ghost busters.
Have you checked for viruses? Did it start after installing a specific update or program? Maybe there is a program that is performing actions that require it to unsleep.
Every computer i had so far does it. I even know some friends who have the problem. I have tried figuring out why its happening but i can't seem to find any input or event causing it. Why do you need to put you're pc in sleep mode every night? You could always put you're pc in hibernate, that's what i'm doing instead of sleep.

Does norton unsleep a computer to run one of those Idle time scans?

I suggest 0lenny0's hibernation idea, sounds like they had the same issue.
because of this Change 03:00 to something else
because of this Change 03:00 to something else
In my case that has never been it(since i like to disable updates). I still Suggest that he uses hibernate mode, its doesn't need any power so you can even unplug the pc. Sleep mode does use power(reduced) so if you use it every night then you still waste electricity. I still don't understand the need of putting you're pc in sleep mode every night.
because of this Change 03:00 to something else
I love you. It updates every morning at 3:08 (wtf). Why so many updates. Thank you Flash, you saved me a visit from the Cyber-ghost-busters. Also I put it to sleep every night because it takes to long for me to boot it back up every morning, I want to press the power button check my emails, facepunch news, garry.tv, google news, creep on some forums, and get my coffee.
I had this problem, my computer is so loud it would wake me up. Anyway, I just unplug the Ethernet cable from the router, did the trick. Though, as previous posters mentioned it's the auto-update
You think your computer is haunted? Mine turns on by itself 5-60 minutes after I shut it off completely. Not such a big deal though because I always turn off power to it. Still, pretty damn annoying.
