So my pair of Sennheiser 280 Pros have no sound coming from the left speaker after I let my sister borrow them [lesson learned] is there any DIY repair for this? If not how much would a repair cost and where could I get them repaired?
Is the cable damaged or the speaker?

Unsure, how do I open it and find out if the cable was loosened or unconnected?
you could try to move the cable around to see if the sound comes back, I fuck the cable up all the time on my headphones and just solder a new cable on.
I don't know about Sennheiser's, but with every headset cable I've broken and opened up to see if I could cut the damaged part and solder it all together, not a fucking chance.
There's just too many tiny little wires that are so brittle to the touch.
Huh, I have never had a problem with soldering new wires on headphones, guess I am just lucky.

Also I just got a headset from a friend that just needs a new cable. I should get a job so I can buy things and not have to fix everything I get.

I think you're exaggerating just a tad.
Yeah, the wires are made from some pretty flimsy strands (fibers, even), but they're usually not beyond repair. You do need to make sure you knot the cord inside the headphone before you close it all up so that any mechanical force is on this knot and not the connections themselves.

Try repairing a Dell laptop charger's cable. I've done it simply with threading tape, a pair of scissors, and a bit of twisting. It's basically what you described except it's a layer within a layer within a layer of wires.
Find the breach and solder it back together, i doubt the speaker is broken.
The 280s can actually have the cord changed.

I've had to do it before after I got the cord trapped in my bike chain while riding
