The world’s most advanced submarine company, Triton Subs, and high pressure glass fabricator Rayotek Scientific, have joined forces to design a full ocean depth submersible that will revolutionize man’s relationship with the deep ocean.

James Cameron is working on a submarine powered with an electric motor and made of composite materials.

Richard Branson is working on his :pcgaming: :pcgaming: FLYING :pcgaming: :pcgaming: underwater craft and is constructed with carbon fiber and titanium with a quartz viewing dome.
With a planned descent rate of 500 feet per minute, the deepest spot in the ocean, at 35,800 ft., can be reached in approximately 75 minutes.
The Triton 36,000 Full Ocean Depth Submersible's pressure hull utilizes Rayotek’s patented manu-facturing process and proprietary technologies to produce a sphere of high-strength specialty glass. Glass has been successfully used in deep submergence for more than 40 years and some spheres have been rated to almost 30,000 ft. (9,000 meters).
Rayotek’s proprietary technology is capable of overcoming previous manufacturing limitations and producing perfect spheres of sufficient diameter to accommodate three occupants.

According to Rayotek CEO Bill Raggio, the borosilicate glass (soda-lime glass) gets stronger under compression, so the underwater pressure found at the ocean’s bottom should not cause it to crack. Because of the fact that the expansion and contraction rates are different in metal and glass, areas where the two join can become an issue. Rayotek has created a new patent pending technique which turns the glass into a sphere and more details cannot currently be released.
...What?
...What?
It's a joke, referring to all the engineers.
It's a joke, referring to all the engineers.
Wasn't really funny. But cool none the less.
...What?
Yeah...I don't really get that.
Wasn't really funny.
Well it felt funny when I typed it :smith:
Neat story, dude :) That sub looks like something out of a cartoon.
I got the joke and had some laughs at it.
Well it felt funny when I typed it :smith:
Stick with space and shit, comedy isn't your thing it seems.
Those engineers probably get more action than you, OP
made for the abyss 2 no doubt

Let's not be cruel now - I generally like Eudoxia's posts - except when he makes terrible jokes.
He's going to be taking footage for Avatar's sequel down there, apparently, too. Should be interesting.

Does there HAVE to be a sequel? :C
Does there HAVE to be a sequel? :C
If there's going to be a sequel, I want humanity to curbstomp the Navi. And this time, I want the humans to be better equipped.
Does there HAVE to be a sequel? :C
Well when a movie has multiple theatrical releases, physical media re releases, merchandise everywhere, and makes over a billion dollars from ticket sales alone. Yeah probably.
James Cameron vs. Facepunch? Challenge Accepted.
If there's going to be a sequel, I want humanity to curbstomp the Navi. And this time, I want the humans to be better equipped.
The entire movie was actually a political commentary on what the American settlers did to the First Nations people who owned the land that most Americans now live on. So, no.
I was expressing a desire to avoid a resurgence of the absolutely disgusting fanbase that resulted from the film.
Avatar would've been a lot better if they kept the original script, but then it would've been 6 hours long.
I think you can still find the original script somewhere online.

Doesn't it make sense? Avatar was a technical masterpiece, if not a narrative one. To reuse the technology crafted specifically for the movie to make a sequel - or several sequels - makes sense.

There's not that many differences. The protagonist has a different name, you get an idea of what Earth is like (a commercialized shithole), and it's more graphic. Tsu'tey gets his nervous ponytail strand thing ripped out by one of the mechanized infantrymen.
I saw the title and the only thing I could think of was that Race Gang of Virgins and Ocean Floor were movie names and James Cameron and Richard Branson were the directors
I feel dumb now :frown:
I was expecting Richard Branson and James Cameron to be racing a group of naked virgins to the bottom of the sea.
Well it felt funny when I typed it :smith:
I'll help you out. Richard Branson runs/owns Virgin Group. (Mobile/Atlantic Airways/etc) Therefore his employees are....virgins?
That's what I thought the joke was about anyway and I laughed. Then I realized I had it wrong and it was just mediocre. So there you go.
I guess it would work if they were all in college, there's a running joke that all engineers in college turn gay because there are no female engineers
Well it felt funny when I typed it :smith:
Maybe it would've been a little better if you had phrased it as "James Cameron to Race Richard Branson and His Gang of Virgins to Ocean Floor" v:v:v
I liked the joke Eudoxia. :unsmith:
God dammit I was literally talking about this the other day. I knew those two would go at it. Wish I could be there too. They're doing exactly what I want to do. :saddowns:
Can't you guys wait like 15 years for me to get established?

Then again the prospect of working with Cameron and Branson is badass. Billionaire powers activate, lets explore this bitch.
Well Mr Cameron, honk if you find R'lyeh.
Also, I sure hope that as well as colonising the Moon and stars, we get to colonise the deep seas, with Sealabs and Raptures galore!

They should've won in the first place :v:
