Valkyria Chronicles is somewhat of a sleeper hit. Released as a PS3 exclusive in 2008, and in a genre which is niche on consoles in the first place, it never achieved great commercial success despite good reviews and a cult following among those who did play it. Roughly two weeks ago, rumors of a PC port spread following a PEGI listing. Sega quickly confirmed the port and a release date: the 11th of November. Many PC gamers were understandably skeptical, especially given the quality of another recent late PC port of a Japanese last-gen console game. Which brings us to this article. Over the past week, I’ve had the opportunity to test and evaluate the PC port. Note that this is a technical evaluation, which is what I’m good at—if you want to know my opinion on the game itself, I really like it.
And even though the PC port has some minor issues, it’s a highly competent job which not only brings the game to a new audience, but also finally allows its wonderful art style to fully shine. Meanwhile, returning fans should be happy to hear that they will be able to spend a lot more time playing, and less staring at loading screens.
Pre-Orders available on Steam also. This is going to be a good end to a year!
Yes, I fucking pre-ordered this shit instantly when it went live on Steam.
I already completed the story more than once on PS3 as well.
It's pretty damn good, and gets as close as video games get to presenting concentration camps.
Also, anime.
Everything is better with anime.
Pre-loading now.
Going to have to suffer the dreadful Unlocking/Decrypting phase too, but no matter, I'm just happy my 6 year wait is finally over.
Is this anything like Ring of Red? I mean I bought it because it looks a bit like it, that and I like strategy games like Advance Wars and Front Mission.
If you never got the chance to play this game because you didn't have a PS3 or anything like that, you should totally buy it now because for $18 it's a super awesome deal.

it's freeform strategy, so you have a customizable squad with set roles (like xcom eu) and you have a movement system that's determined by stats/points (like original xcom) with a free-aim system, which means you can get headshots or aim at weak parts.
so if anything it's anime og xcom with a third person shooter camera.
Never played this game before, I'm assuming this is the first game?
I'm psyched as fuck, never played it before because I only ever had a PC.

This is pretty much what I gathered from some quick googling on it and I was sold immediately. It pretty much is everything I like.
And the dub isn't terrible either imo. The lip syncing sucks shit as they didn't even really try to match it in a lot of cases but that's not important.
You can change the audio dub in the PS3 version to play in Japanese if that's you thing. I'm going to assume they kept that feature.

Just bought it!
Good to know performance is great, good news for downsampling. First time I'm gonna be playing this game too, can't wait for tomorrow.

Hopefully the fact it's been top seller on Steam and GMG will convince more Japanese games to come on PC.
Just bought the game for about 14 bucks off GMG
Can't wait! ahhh
Goddamn, VC now stands among giants on Steam's charts after being an uncharted flop back in 2008. And all this suddenly after Durante's article went up.
Durante for the best marketing tool in the PC gaming world confirmed?

Sega should port Resonance of Fate next.

Glad it's doing so well, totally deserves it. The sales it got on PS3 was a crime.
Top sellers is by Revenue right?
So that means for every 1 copy of assassin's creed on release day, VC is selling more than 3 copies?
Good to see it, because the game is amazing.
Gonna youtube some videos tonight and probably pick it up tomorrow/wednesday if I like what I see
