• How is this even possible?

A friend of mine has been complaining about his computer shutting down unexpectedly while playing Civilisation 5, so I decided to take a look on TeamViewer... If these (idle) temps are to be believed, and he has likely been running it like this for months, how has his CPU survived? :aaaaa: Even more incredibly, it's rock solid except under absolutely full load
Tell your friend to buy a lottery ticket ASAP. And also an air duster while he's out.
The CPU cooler isn't mounted properly. And the spec is safe up to ~115C for most CPUs. It will just shorten the life. I ran my E6750 at 130C for about 3 minutes before realising and it has worked fine for 2 years.
Magic I say
He's just given it a good clean out and it's back to ~40C  Amazing a bit of dust could make that much difference
Are you sure that was dust and not handfuls of insulation crammed in there
-26 degrees?
The sensors seem somewhat broken on the CPU, I mean -26 and 100 seem a bit too extreme.
