Hi guys, so im building my pc for the first time instead of buying a premade one. Does everything I have here look like it would work together/is this all I need parts wise? Constructive criticism is greatly appreciated. You could down on the ram, save yourself some money.
the hell are you going to be using this for that you need 16gb of ram.
the hell are you going to be using this for that you need 16gb of ram.
Possibly rendering, but apart from that I have no clue what he could do with it.
If you plan on doing any 3D design or video editing then 16 GB is perfectly fine, what is your budget? What do you plan on using this for besides gaming? I could set up a better rig for you.
Your not going to be able to sli the 560s with that board.
Don't know much about system building but unless you're doing this for practice it seems like you could get a comparable system already built for around the same price if not cheaper. And that is a ton of RAM.

I you want to spend money on useless shit buy an Alienware. 4 or 6 gbs of ram is enough
is this Canada or US
is this Canada or US
US
I would half the RAM, get a 2 TB hard drive and maybe a modular power supply.

No reason you shouldn't be using an 890GX or 890FX board with that kind of money. Even better though, if you have no preference for CPU manufacturer, I would suggest getting a Sandy Bridge system. They can overclock very well and if you're just gaming, the 2500K outperforms the Phenom II X6 series in most benchmarks and is about the same price.

Also get rid of half your ram, only really really really serious video editing or rendering needs annything close to that.
Behold the power of 1.6 grand: [img_thumb]http://i.cubeupload.com/oNtolu.png[/img_thumb] I replaced your case with a bigger, better one, with easy support for water cooling in the future. I took away the blu-ray drive because they're worthless for their price at the moment. I replaced your samsung drives with western digital drives and I also added a 64 GB SSD with a 2.5 to 3.5 inch converter and two more SATA cables. I got you a standard ATX motherboard and decreased the amount of ram by half, and bumped your graphics cards down a level (GTX 550 now). Also you get two free copies of Mafia II. Use the SSD for certain programs and your operating system (will be bitchin' fast) and put the 1TB hard drives in a raid 1 (NOT RAID 0) configuration. Your case is massive now and you don't need so many case fans anymore cause it has decent airflow. You've got eight gigs of ram, six cores, two gigs of video ram, and a raid1 + ssd configuration of bitchin' fast awesomeness which will be more than enough for a few years. It'll eat Crysis for breakfast and make Crysis 2 and Battlefield 3 its bitch. You might even be able to max out ArmA II on this.
Thank you! [editline]19th March 2011[/editline] can you send me an email of that cart? ethanlongstreet@comcast.net

no stop that build has 550s why do you guys insist on having 2 GPUs? Just get one strong GPU for now, and add in another later on $1250 grand total, if you really want to you can add another 570 and it'll end up ~$1600, much better than any other build here

You haven't said anything to help, you've only thrown out stupid insults and baseless claims. The only thing you're half right about is the motherboard. I tried to stay close to his original build (I assumed they were of personal preference) If he wanted I could get a better Intel setup and a cheaper AMD card.

How bout we do this, build the best build you can with a $1600 budget and post it here/email me the cart? That way people have total control over what they think is the best build. ethanlongstreet@comcast.net

you're still paying too much for the PSU, case, and SSD, since you have an ATI GPU get the G45 instead, and why do you have thermal compound?
you're still paying too much for the PSU, case, and SSD, since you have an ATI GPU get the G45 instead, and why do you have thermal compound?
Intel thermal tape is terrible, and he's going to have a stock cooler... This entire list is becoming more impractical by the minute, I'm going to remake it.
stock cooler is fine, even for low 4ghz range overclocks
you're still paying too much for the PSU, case, and SSD, since you have an ATI GPU get the G45 instead, and why do you have thermal compound?
I like the case, also why get a 2.5 -> 3.5 bay converter when the 800D supports SSD's native
I'm not denying that the case is nice, it's just that for this build there's better things to spend money on
I like the case, also why get a 2.5 -> 3.5 bay converter when the 800D supports SSD's native
Whoops, that was a mistake. I have a new build set up: This is a sandybridge setup, I made a compromise and got a cheaper AMD graphics card. The case is a full tower which will give you more room for the graphics card. In the future you can get another 6950. With the AS5 you'll be able to overclock to 4.0 GHz on a stock cooler. The only thing I'm not very sure about is the power supply, 850 watts seems like too much, 750 should be fine. you won't be overclocking at all because it isn't a 2500K [editline]19th March 2011[/editline] and you're still wasting money on the case, PSU and RAM and why green drives
