• M First PC build-Need some help

I'm going to be building my first PC pretty soon, and I've been searching Newegg for some parts that I think go together. To me, it looks like everything will work and will be a relatively powerful computer, but I don't have any experience in this sort of thing. Here is a screenshot of the shopping cart. I would like to stay under $1000, but if it ends up going a little over (<$150) it should be fine. Currently it's $765. P.S. Any building tips you have would be appreciated  EDIT: There's been a few changes. To save you from reading the rest of the thread, here is a new up to date picture
I made 2 builds, you can either go with the Phenom II or the i5. They are both $1100. Phenom II i5 [editline]15th november 2010[/editline] images fixed - also, I'm not, by any means, forcing you to buy what I posted above. It is a suggestion, and it is entirely up to you whether you choose to get it or not. Also you should probably wait for other suggestions as well And for the actual building, watch out for static, work in a bright environment, no liquids nearby, and some parts (especially the RAM and the heatsink) may take some force to put in. [editline]15th november 2010[/editline] As for the build in OP, I would get a stronger CPU, and drop the 5870 and get either a 470 or a 6870.
I switched out the 5870 for a 6870, and found a combo deal with the current mobo and this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103851 I've done some comparing and it seems like this is stronger than the 810 and stronger than my current Q6600 2.4GHz. The only thing I'm worried about now is the power supply. Is 600w going to be enough?
whatever it is it's deactivated for me. Anyways 600w should be fine
I cut off the end of the link, it should work now.
I guess it's good, but unless you're doing CPU intensive tasks you're not going to use those 6 cores - you'd be better off with a strong quad instead
Okay, I found another good quad, and it had a mobo combo i grabbed too: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.552990 I've also changed my ram to work with that board. Get 955. Use money saved for better RAM. I still like your buil though Jaehead.
can you take a screen of the whole wish list, along with prices as well? also probably a mistake, but you have 2 motherboards on there [editline]efwef[/editline] wait nevermind i'm dumb I still want a full screenshot of the wish list though

that's a solid build
Alright then, I'll be ordering it tomorrow. I'll still check the thread in case someone finds an issue. Thank you so much for your help. I'll be putting it together around Christmas. I may come back if I have an issue, but I'm confident I'll be able to build it myself.
wait if you're going to be putting it together around Christmas wouldn't it be better to just buy it around Christmastime? just asking.
Just to get it all done and bought early. That way we don't have to deal with shipping issues to get it in on time. I may end up building it before, anyway.
With a budget like that wait till next year when AM3+ comes out
