Ah... Doom. The best early FPS of all time. Well, blood could've beaten it, but certain things kinda made it "meh".
How odd. I was thinking about the doom series today... ESP? :raise: I never knew today was the birthday of Doom either, not even subconsciously.

Doom was bloody amazing. At one point, there were more copies of Doom shareware on computers that Windows.

It's the game that finally convinced me to buy a new PC back in the day.
Doom, Ah the fun.
I remember the deathmatch I had that one day with those bots. Their were so many corpses, you couldn't see the floor.
its older than me
Doom, although you were not a big part of my childhood. You did so much for the PC gaming community.
Happy Birthday!
I cant get the thought of how awesome Doom 4 will be, I hope they dont do a remake of Doom 2 like they did with Doom 3 though... Sure Doom 3 was great and it was like Nostalgia but it was too soon don't you think?
I was playing Doom on my iPod in class today.
It was awesome.
And this game still gets modded to this very day. Shows how true the community is and persistent. It's remarkable.

The Doom 2 Boycott is a group of individuals who have pledged to boycott Id's upcoming release of Doom 2 on October 10th, 1994. We have assembled a manifesto outlining the basic concensus of many members of our community. (Note: this manifesto is a new version, which we have recently posted to keep our manifesto in line with the middle ground of our members. This is the correct group for the boycott)
WE RECOGNIZE:
-Id is a company with financial needs and cannot be expected to survive without the release of new games.
-Judgment cannot be passed on the quality of Doom 2 until its release.
-Doom was, and is, a quality game which deserves the praise of the entire gaming community.
WE ARE COMMITTED:
-To holding Id to its promise of free, continual updates to Doom in order to build and sustain the community.
-To keeping the Doom community together in order to improve the quality of online gaming.
-To supporting the model of continual updates Id has set forth with its staple products like Commander Keen.
WE BELIEVE:
-The release of Doom 2 as a stand-alone sequel will split the communities and decrease the quality of multiplayer gaming.
-The announced content of Doom 2 does not warrant a stand-alone, full-priced sequel and should instead become updates (free or otherwise) for Doom.
-Doom has not yet received the support and content which Id has repeatedly stated will be delivered.
-The release of Doom 2 will make Doom an obsolete purchase and inferior piece of software after only one year since release.
WE REQUEST:
-That Id honor its commitment to release ongoing periodic content for Doom.
-That Doom 2 not be released as a stand-alone, full-priced sequel but as either a free update to Doom or an expansion with full compatibility with basic Doom owners.
-That Doom owners be given discounts for Doom 2, should it be released as premium content.
Therefore, we - the members of this Doom 2 Boycott - promise to abstain from the purchase of Doom 2 until our requests are addressed.
time for doom to get a license and a job
Doom was as good as it was hard.
