Okay, so I got a new rig but I want to transfer the HDD from my old rig into the new one. The old rig has 2 partitions with 1 of them having a 32bit Win7 installation on it while my current HDD is on a 64bit installation. If I were to just install it but set the boot priority to the current rig's HDD, would there be any issues? Also, by accident I had set the boot thingy from AHCI to IDE by accident, having to do complete reinstallation when I set it back, will that affect the older HDD? I don't intend to RAID it or anything, just to transfer data and then remove it
Shouldn't affect the hard drive in the new rig, but you won't be able to boot from the Windows installation on the old hard drive. Should be fine to put it in the machine along with the hard drive already in there to just move the data over
It should be fine. I always unplug my other drives when installing Windows just to make sure it doesn't go rogue though.
