okay. so over the past few months ive been crafting this universe in my head in which all my stories (read: ALL my stories) take place. i figured that to make said universe truly complete, why not build a timeline to house all the histories of this universe?
(also one of them is just macbeth but set in the 22nd century and in space.)
ANYWAY HERE GOES CHUMPS/CHUMPETTES
HOW IT WENT DOWN: A Timeline of Notable Events
Circa 1150: First recorded appearance of vampires in what will become Nevada (judging from ambiguous artworks by the local Native Americans).
1647: Birth of Otto von Tod, somewhere in Germany.
1665: von Tod discovers the necromantic arts.
1698: von Tod constructs an Elixir of Life. At this point he is the most powerful being on Earth and remains so until his death.
1845: Future President Zachary Taylor, with the help of a team of soldiers and misfits, defeats Crono Velasquez, one of Santa Anna’s generals and mayor of Beso de Serpiente. This is a major blow to Santa Anna, who is soon defeated. Texas is made a state, and the rechristened Snakebite Gulch begins to grow considerably.
1861: The American Civil War begins.
1864: Turmoil abound in the now-bustling town of Snakebite Gulch. Several years pass with no sheriff-mayor lasting more than a few months. Colonel Jacob T. White, a Confederate soldier, puts the town under martial law until 1867.
1865: The American Civil War ends; President Lincoln is assassinated by John Wilkes Booth. Booth escapes to parts unknown.
1867: Colonel White is killed, and the turmoil continues. However, Snakebite Gulch continues to grow.
1879: Snakebite Gulch becomes a major stopping point on the railroad. Many travelers come through. Ernst Zigfeld, a German immigrant, becomes mayor.
1885: An unknown man is bitten by one of Nevada’s vampires. Applying Dr. Edwin S. Wisely’s Cureall Ointment to the wound mutates the virus, turning the man into the first zombie. He makes his way to Snakebite Gulch, starting the largest outbreak of undead in recorded history. Snakebite Gulch is destroyed and (nearly) all the zombies killed, but zombie outbreaks continue well into the 20th century.
1888: English inventor Winston P. Goodwin creates the Clockwork Man. The Clockwork Man, over the next few months, phases out the need for workers in the factories. After a short but bloody revolt, all the Clockwork Men are destroyed (or so we are led to believe), and Goodwin is hanged by an angry mob.
1901: President William McKinley is assassinated by Leon Czologosz, who escapes to parts unknown. Before killing McKinley, he shouts “Sic semper tyranis”, mimicking the Lincoln assassination. Conspiracy is the word on everyone’s lips.
1914: The First World War begins. General Donald Trueheart achieves many decisive victories for the Allies, ensuring victory for the Allies by 1916. Germany is punished harshly.
1929: A worldwide depression hits.
1933: Adolf Hitler rises to power in Germany. He starts Operation Shadowland, with a bureau of occultists advising him. Attempts to tap into other dimensions to restore Germany to her former glory.
1935: Otto von Tod offers his services to Hitler. Great strides are made in contacting the other side.
1937: Dexter Cosgrove, a New York private eye, saves the planet from destruction by The Snake Goddess.
1939: Albert Einstein is captured by the Nazis and forced to design weapons for the Third Reich as part of Operation Ironfist. World War II begins, and it looks like the Nazis are going to win pretty quickly.
1942: Death of Armand Arceneau. His wife Justine IS the French Resistance, essentially the only thing preventing the Nazis from winning the war.
1944: The Hellbenders, the elite soldiers of America’s Advanced Special Operations division, save Einstein from the Nazis and destroy the secret manufacturing facility, along with most of the Nazis’ secret weapons. Otto von Tod is killed at the age of 297.
1945: The Great Depression ends, along with the Second World War. The whereabouts of Hitler are never discovered.
1954: Soviet atomic testing creates a team of Soviet supermen, who are combated by Joseph McCarthy as part of a secret government project. They are never defeated, but the Soviets never turn them against America.
1955: Birth of Vlad Williams, future head of The Black Hand, a powerful multinational crime corporation.
1963: President John F. Kennedy is assassinated under mysterious circumstances. Somehow the assassin managed to infiltrate the White House. All that was found as evidence anyone was there is a note that reads “Sic semper tyranis” in an untidy scrawl.
1964: An aging but still fit Justine Arceneau founds The Specialists, a worldwide network of “supercops” to protect and serve.
1988: The final tour of worldwide sensation power metal band Intreppid. The band never arrived at a concert in Nevada on September 14th, and the lead singer and drummer are never seen again.
1997: The Black Hand is founded. World governments tremble and are all systematically taken over by Vlad Williams and his men.
2015: The Specialists finally are able to fight back. Specialist Tom Small kills Vlad Williams and The Black Hand falls apart. The world is free once again.
2022: Faster-than-light travel becomes possible.
2038: Commercial spaceflight becomes an affordable reality.
2064: Blueprints for The Clockwork Man are found in a London library in a sealed vault. Scientists update the plans, improving the artificial intelligence. Soon, robots are used for everything.
2067: The robots, like all robots do, rise up. Mankind fights a losing battle before abandoning Earth for the stars.
2071: Birth of Duncan, son of the captain of the HMS Dunsinane.
2094: The location of Earth is lost.
2122: After years of wandering, Earth’s spaceships finally settle in a large asteroid belt orbiting a planet six times the size of the sun. Asteroid colonies are founded.
2124: Duncan converts the Dunsinane into the most powerful ship in the fleet and uses it for piratical purposes.
2125: Duncan declares himself “King” after defeating dissenters, with the help of his underlings (mainly Macbeth, Banquo, and Macduff).
2126: Macbeth kills Duncan, declares himself King. Banquo is killed, but is survived by his son, Fleance. Macduff defeats Macbeth, and Fleance becomes King.
2127: Fleance decides to head out into the universe. The Sons of Banquo Exploration Company colonizes, colonizes, colonizes.
4448: Humans have colonies nearly everywhere in the galaxy.
4988: Emperor Zom rises to power and controls a small corner of the galaxy.
5001: Birth of Lance Lightstar, intergalactic explorer extraordinaire.
5002: Birth of Cassandra.
5021: Lance Lightstar finds LUCIUS, the most powerful artificial intelligence in the universe.
5025: Lance Lightstar, with thoughts of treasure in his mind, inadvertently defeats Emperor Zom. He and Cassandra marry and continue to explore the galaxy.
5030: Lance Lightstar finds Earth and defeats the evil robots living there. Mankind returns to Earth.
Lance Lightstar? If you want that to be taken at all seriously, change the name.
nope. the point is that it's like a bad space opera from the 30s.
like flash gordon. or buck rogers. are you gonna tell them to change their names? i dont think so.
That's pretty cool
I like it, interesting ties to reality.
I like the space-Macbeth part
Also, the whole thing reminds me of Timesplitters
After 2015 it started to go meh.
I really like everything before that.
