• $570 Budget-ish Gaming/(amateur)Video/Audio Production Build

hey y'all!! I am in need of a little advice if this is a decent build or not, I basically want to be able to max out most games I play (TF2, BF3, Dota 2, Skyman and the Old Scrolls) with little to no issues, and I also want to be able to multi-task with not a lot of chugging. i.e. Skype calls while playing games and stuff. plus, I do music and video (not video all the time, music primarily) and I want to have programs running like they should! I am considering getting a soundcard for that reason alone but, I have read that soundcards are not exactly worth it anymore?? which is weird to me I always thought they were pretty cool but watevs. I'm willing maaaayybee to go a few dollars higher but, I want to try and keep it as low as I possibly can in the $500-570-ish range. ((I wanted $550 but I don't really know what parts to go lower on.)) also, I'm wanting to know if this is even a good build!! I haven't really picked out parts for myself in a while so if this is a shit build, please feel free to tell me!! Get 2x4 gb ram sticks, unless you plan on throwing a second 8gb stick in there. Dual channel is nice for multitasking.
If you are going with a discrete graphics card, get an fx 6300/4300 or even better an i3 4xxx. If not, get an A10 cpu.
Do you need an OS? [editline]1st February 2014[/editline] http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2LjrM should do you well. This is one of the very few situations I recommend an AMD chip, and that's because you're into audio and video editing. Pick up a Coolermaster 212 evo sometime for a nice overclock.
I'm deciding whether or not I want to get Windows 8 yet, but no I have my 7 stuff. that build looks pretty nice and its a bit cheaper. :v: thanks!! Can I ask why you selected the Radeon card? I'm not the most educated on Radeon stuff, I've been on nVidia stuff my whole life pretty much.

The RAM could have been $2 yesterday, considering how volatile RAM prices are. Also the processor you suggested is just as outdated as the 8120.

They're the same price and the 8320 is considerably better http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/434?vs=697
Grandady why are you so amd biased? Reminds me of a certain Kevin..
Grandady why are you so amd biased? Reminds me of a certain Kevin..
Fx > i3 I'm not being biased
The i3 is superior to the 6300 that is just the way it is.
The i3 is superior to the 6300 that is just the way it is.
Mind posting some benchmarks? It's better in single threaded tasks but not in multi
Mind posting some benchmarks? It's better in single threaded tasks but not in multi
Most games utilize the single core performance over multithreaded.
So since the i3 is better in one regard and the 6300 in another that makes the 6300 better? The 6300 used to be a pretty good choice since you could overclock it, but now that haswell i3s are out, the performance difference doesn't warrant choosing the unlocked processor unless you have a very high end cooler. And since you can just by an i5 instead of a 6300 and high end cooler, there's no point. There's no definitive winner but for gaming the i3 is going to perform better in most cases.
Since OP wants to do video/music production more threads?
