ATHENS: A helicopter has swooped on a prison courtyard as armed men on board fired at guards and lowered a rope to help a convicted killer make his fourth attempt to escape from a Greek prison.
But the plot was foiled when the prisoner was shot and the helicopter was forced to land in the prison's car park.
Authorities say the chartered helicopter – carrying two armed passengers, a pilot and a technician – first tried to rip off the chicken-wire fence surrounding Trikala prison with a hook dangling from a rope.

Sounds like something from an action movie

I've actually seen stories of this being done before, an successfully at the same time.
Well, the helicopter could have just flown away, the guys inside probably didn't want to get arrested. Did the prisoner die?
Hey dipshits, this is real life! Shit like that doesn't work.

Actually this has worked several times in different prisons across the globe.

Prisoner gets shot, heavy blood loss prisoner will probably die if he doesn't get immediate care.
So you're left with two choices. Land so the infirmary can take care of him and hopefully save his life, or fly away and the prisoner dies, whom was the only reason for this mission in the first place.
He was a convicted killer and had attempted to escape four times?
Jesus, just kill the fucker and be done with it.

don't cut yourself on all that outer rim
I wanna make a joke about PAYDAY: The Heist, but I can't think of anything clever.

Good because this has nothing to do with bank robberies
Good because this has nothing to do with bank robberies
Implying that PAYDAY was about bank robberies outside of the first mission. (Although it should have been)
That prisoner must be really important if the passengers of the chopper were willing to get arrested just so the prisoner could get medical attention
Hey dipshits, this is real life! Shit like that doesn't work.
Actually, this has happened a lot more than people think. Not only that, but it succeeds more often than it fails, almost a 3/1 ratio!
Some prisons even plan against it. Ever wonder why some prisons have large nets or cages over the courtyard? It's so helicopters can't land in there, or pull anyone out with a rope.
Kinda reminds me of all the posts saying that they would rescue the formerly detained ARMA 3 devs in this fashion.

It would be easy, Get the KSP guys to build a VTOL rocket, Plop the Arma 2 guys in there, Then there you go.
Finally, the Greeks manage to STOP somebody from helicoptering away from prison.
