Whats up, so I am pretty ticked off because I ended up getting a Packard Bell laptop a year ago for 850 euro, it can play most games on decent settings, but stuff like Deus Ex and Metro 2033 have to be played on low.
One day on Facepunch I saw a dude say he has a laptop that cost him 1000 dollars and plays Crysis 2 on max settings at 60fps.
So I was pretty annoyed because that converts to a good bit less than 850, and he got a superior laptop. So I want to try sell my laptop on, and try get a better one, but I was wondering how easy second hand laptops are to sell? Since software can get outdated so easy. How much should I look for my laptop if I was to sell it?
If I was able to get about 500-600 for it I would be happy, since I will be getting a job soon it shouldn't take me too long to save up a few hundred for a new laptop
How would we tell without your specs/model number?
And if you buy a 1000€ laptop now its gonna be a shitload better then a 3 year old 850€ laptop. Not to mention that you shouldnt be gaming on a laptop annyway, unless you have no other option.
700€ PC and a 300€ netbook is the way to go.
Sorry forgot ha it is a Packard Bell Easynote TX86.
The laptop was only bought last September ha. I know I know shouldn't be gaming on a laptop, and I really would prefer a desktop, but the thing is since I am in college at the moment I'm only home on the weekends, so I think a laptop would be better, and then once I start getting bombloads of money from working I would buy a rig for home use.

-Crap brand
It would go for 300-400 here depending on the state its in.
Hmm sounds reasonable. Only shit thing is that over here in Ireland we really don't have a good place like Newegg that has amazing prices. Only thing I need to fix on the laptop is the button, which got a bit of beer spilled on it so it doesn't work but I plan on fixing that soon.
Is it possible to even upgrade laptops? If I could just get a better graphics card I would be happy but I have heard laptops are quite hard to upgrade.
It can be done but is never worth the hassle or the massive cost.

Ebay?
Most laptops have the GPU soldered to the board; upgrading the GPU isn't happening.
But some laptops use an MXM slot for the GPU but they are stupidly expensive and you need to worry about cooling.
IMO, save up for a better laptop or if possible get a desktop.
Shove it up on whatever the locally-used Craigslist or Kijiji equivalent is for about 600 or so. If you don't get any responses, lower the price and relist.
Yeah I was going to throw it up but I would like to find a good laptop first to be sure. Not sure what one though because Ireland doesn't have many good sites. Any sites that would ship to Ireland that any of you know of that would have a really great laptop that could play a lot of games on high? I mainly just want to chill out after college and play BF3 and Skyrim and all that, but I have no clue as to what price I should pay for a laptop over here
Look at ASUS, MSI or maybe Sony laptops.
Toshiba is good to but usually doesnt have great GPU's
Stay away from Packard Hell, HP and Acer.
For the place to get them: No clue.
No to Acer? Damn I though they were a good brand, maybe I got them confused with Asus! Any recommendations on which laptops would be good for gaming? And I could check around Irish sites for prices.
Well for example this would play all those games very well:
Asus G53SW-SX105V
15" screen
Intel Core Intel Core i5 2410M 2.3Ghz
GTX 460M
4GB DDR3
950€ here.

Wow 950 for that doesn't actually seem that bad! It would be able to play most of the games on high enough settings then yeah? It would be good for video editing too?

Also where did you find it for 950? I can only find them for like 1300-1800
