Former CBC radio host Jian Ghomeshi has been found not guilty of all charges in the broadcaster's sexual assault trial. Ghomeshi had been facing four counts of sexual assault, as well as one count of overcoming resistance by choking.

Justice William Horkins delivered the judgment in a Toronto courthouse on Thursday. His decision in the case comes more than a month after the Crown and the defence wrapped up their arguments in court.

The Crown's case hinged on testimony from three women, including actress Lucy DeCoutere, who chose to be publicly identified. The first complainant to testify, who cannot be identified, accused Ghomeshi of yanking her hard by the hair and punching her in the head. DeCoutere alleged that he pushed her up against a wall and choked her. A third complainant said he bit her suddenly and squeezed her neck with his hands.
Ghomeshi's lawyer, Marie Henein, presented a bevy of emails, texts and hand-written letters in his defence, in her efforts to demonstrate that the complainants continued to court Ghomeshi's attention after the alleged incidents.

Chuck Thompson, CBC's head of public affairs, said the judge's ruling is "unrelated" to the public broadcaster's decision to end Ghomeshi's employment in 2014. "Based on the evidence that came to our attention, his actions were not in line with the values of the public broadcaster, nor with our employee code of contact," Thompson said in a statement to CTV News
It's shitty he won't go back to Q at least. After they booted him out they made the show into the most boring show in the lineup. Pretty hard to do considering how bland Tapestry is.
This not-guilty verdict won't change his tarnished reputation.
For better or worse he was found guilty in the court of public opinion awhile ago.
And of course my facebook feed is full of nonsense about supporting rape victims, etc.
Look, if you're going to lie in court, you're going to lose the case. It has nothing to do with him being popular or not supporting rape victims or psychological mumbo jumbo or any of that. The plaintiffs lied about conducting further communication with Ghomeshi, so their testimonies are questionable, so it can't be proven that he did anything.
But try telling that to today's progressives.
It's been great seeing all this smacked down lately. While I don't particularly care for Ghomeshi, I'm super happy that the court did its job.
The denouement will be the Gjoni vs Quinn. If Gjoni wins (as he should), the salt will be greater then the mines my grandfather worked in (and the toxx of me buying him a beer).

Didnt he already beat Quinn? Or was that just Quinns retarded gag order thrown out and hes pursuing more?

Quinn had the gag order vacated to avoid setting a precedent that the gag order was in fact illegal. Gjoni is still pursuing it anyway to have that precedent. That way in the future such gag orders would already be known to the courts as illegal, at least in that state.
