Anastasia Smirnova, the general project manager of the Interregional Social Movement Russian LGBT Network, reported on Russian queer newsgroups that two masked men with guns and baseball bats attacked a "rainbow social" at the offices of LaSky, an HIV organization for gay men, just over an hour ago. The police reportedly arrived at the LaSky office but left immediately saying they saw no evidence of a crime.
The term civilized is totally relative.

attacking an HIV support group is uncivilized and barbaric everywhere in the world

I'm not saying I disagree with that, I just think it's hard to objectively compare two different cultures and call them both equally uncivilized or whatever you want to call them. I'm sure they look at our acceptance of homosexuality and think we're uncivilized.

and they're wrong in thinking that

its not that which bothers me, its the fact the police dont give a shit.
Gays dont count as human beings, infact I expect to be able to go to russia and murder someone without penalty because they obviously dont give a flying fuck about their own people.

If you're going to play the 'Civilized is a subjective term' card, then let's just couch it like this;
By Western Standards (non-subjective) Russia fails in many areas required to be called civilized.
Is Russia a generally civilized nation? Sure. They have running water, successive government, healthcare, welfare and many of the hallmarks of a functioning Western Nation. Are they civilized in terms of society and fundamental humanities though? No, not really. Atleast there is no evidence which seems to support that type of claim.
You can reverse the token and say America isn't civilized politically, but is also generally civilized and that's fine. You do that. That doesn't magically civilize Russia any more or less. Playing the 'We aren't so why should they' card is a quick way to argue everyone to consenting to living in mud huts without utilities.
Though I agree that this is a nightmarishly sickening act, the term "savages" need not be used so liberally.

What?
;42757327']What?
rainbow is like the symbolism for lgbt people
so its like ice cream social except there might not be ice cream, just lgbt people congregating together to find space and socialize with each other

I understand the symbolism, I just find the name a little bit funny. That would be like the Democrats calling a party gathering a Donkey Social.

What are you talking about, of course they'd have ice cream there
