RNC cuts off Moore The national party pulls out of a fundraising pact with the Alabama candidate, further isolating him. https://www.politico.com/story/2017/11/14/rnc-cuts-off-moore-244904
The Republican National Committee is withdrawing its support for besieged Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore, leaving him increasingly isolated as he confronts charges of sexual misconduct with teenagers. The RNC is pulling out of a joint fundraising agreement it had with Moore, according to a senior party official briefed on the decision. It is also canceling a field program it had set up ahead of the state’s Dec. 12 special election. The committee had about a dozen paid canvassers in Alabama working for Moore. It will no longer transfer any money to the race. Even before allegations surfaced against Moore, the committee believed he was in trouble. Internal RNC polling conducted around a week ago showed him leading his Democratic opponent by just two percentage points. The committee has been evaluating its options about what to do about Moore over the last few days.
The GOP is actually responding fairly strongly to this, kind of surprised we actually found the answer to 'how far is too far?'
Ultimately I figure they just don't want to be the pedophile party. Every time a GOP politician says some dumb shit about rape, it gets held over the party's head forever. Plus, the blue showing from the recent elections is probably getting them hot under the collar
The GOP is actually responding fairly strongly to this, kind of surprised we actually found the answer to 'how far is too far?'
I just wish they had sooner drawn the line at bragging about sexual assault on tape, but hey, at least it's a start.
Does this mean that republicans nationwide are going to throw away/smash all of their RNC memorabilia now? :v: Good move on their part to cut him loose, but I agree with BlindSniper17's sentiment that they could have been more proactive with Trump if they really stood for "family values".
The GOP is actually responding fairly strongly to this, kind of surprised we actually found the answer to 'how far is too far?'
They still rally behind Trump without a second thought, or if they have second thoughts, it's rarely in public. There's no to few public acts, at least. To comment on the topic though, it is kinda iffy with the whole "innocent before proven guilty" thing. I'm not saying he's innocent, but the allegations alone would ruin his chances in the race. It is also interesting that the RNC is so public about it, gives the whole thing credence. On the other hand, it could be they're fishing for a better candidate since he's already a weak contender, and this is just to definitively remove a potential troublemaker. If it is the latter, I have to say that sounds like GOP as usual. Could be one or the other, or both.
Jesus Christ, took them long enough?
Thank goodness the republicans won't help elect a sexual predator into power. :pudge:
This may be why - nationally, even Republican voters think the allegations against Moore are credible https://www.politico.com/story/2017/11/14/poll-should-roy-moore-quit-senate-race-244865
So it takes at least sexually assaulting an underaged person to get the RNC to backwater on supporting someone. I guess that's something. Glad this scumbag finally got cut off though.
i won't be shocked at all if he still wins.
He's 6 points ahead in the latest poll http://thehill.com/homenews/campaign-polls/360392-poll-moore-leads-jones-by-6-points-in-alabama-senate-race
i won't be shocked at all if he still wins.
He almost certainly will, the question is what the senate will do about it
I think there's still a possibility that enough Republicans will decide to stay home, or that there's some sort of write-in campaign for a 'clean Republican' that splits the vote. Doesn't seem like Moore is going to quit though [editline]15th November 2017[/editline] Alabama congressman literally runs from questions about Moore

I think it's really anything goes at this point. Can't believe they're having a tough time deciding if a pedophile is worse than a democrat. Alabama is the fucking worst, seriously man.

i kinda want to see that video seamlessly looped
Doug Jones has taken the lead, 48% to 44%.
Honestly, if Moore was dominating in the polls I think they still would have stuck with him.
Alabama congressman literally runs from questions about Moore
"I believe that the Democrats will do great damage to our country," says member of a party which has turned the nation's politics into a sad joke.
He sounds almost robotic in his responses. It's somewhat un-nerving.
It's scary to think there are probably more just like him; empty husks that preach this madness mantra to trick themselves into thinking all is right in their own twisted little worlds.
Okay but why him Yours is a party popular with perpetrators of sexual assault and uneducated misogynists. Banishing one of them doesn't mean anything when you still hold the rest of them so dear.

Welcome to the party of "whatever we have to do to get our way, fuck the consequences."
The GOP is actually responding fairly strongly to this, kind of surprised we actually found the answer to 'how far is too far?'
The line is blurred even here, with people saying "Rather vote for a child molester than a democrat"
The GOP is actually responding fairly strongly to this, kind of surprised we actually found the answer to 'how far is too far?'
the gop leadership is, there are plenty of members who have been on the record saying "It doesn't matter, the conservative agenda is more important." so they'd vote for John Wayne Gacey if he ran as a republican
I just wish they had sooner drawn the line at bragging about sexual assault on tape, but hey, at least it's a start.
They did condemn it they called trump a naughty boy who should have not done that thing but then threw their support behind him anyway because the Republican party doesn't actually care about anything but lining their own pockets and coming out on top
