• Computer won't play any sound

For some odd strange reason my computer decided to take a vow of silence. Last night when I went to sleep it was working fine and everything but this morning I try to play a song and nothing, I open up the volume control and get this message: Now I tried doing that but nothing came up. Once again I have no idea why it is doing this.
Try reinstalling the sound drivers. Are you using onboard or a dedicated sound card?
If your soundcard is external or PCI check the connection. Go into Device Manager and check if your sound card is operational. I don't know how that'd work on XP but check if it isn't deactivated for some reason.
It says there is no audio device. Also your gonna have to explain most of it in laments terms. I'm not that great with computers
Hold on. I'm gonna boot up my netbook with XP to have a look.
It's weird though because sounds like the error sound and the steam notice bing still work. Just everything else doesn't.
Did you restart your computer yet? That sometimes miraculously does the trick. Have you checked all connections (If your card isn't built into the motherboard) Press the Windows key + R. In the window that comes up, type "devmgmt.msc" and press enter. Expand the audio controller section and check if there are any warning signs and if your sound card is even in that list. [editline]07:26PM[/editline] That shouldn't be possible seeing as windows doesn't even recognize the device.
Okay reseting now. Then'll try that over stuff. [editline]05:32PM[/editline] Alright, reseting it worked. Thank you.
