Recently I've been watching the saw films and I was wondering what you guys think about them?
Me personally, I adore them and I love the blood and gore.
They are pretty entertaining, the contraptions are interesting.
But facepunch generally frowns upon the Saw franchise.
theyre pretty shitty cept for the first one
the latest ones are the worst of the bunch though
what made the first one better was it wasn't just gore porn, there was an actual point
I never saw them actually I don't like scary movies.
the last one was especially awful because it tried to push this huge twist that everyone figured out as soon as the first hint was even given and then it beats you over the head with it with it like HA HA YOU PROBABLY NEVER GUESSED THAT HE WAS THE NEW DISCIPLE DID YOU
like the audience was too stupid to guess that the creepy raspyvoiced dude that was brought back from the first film arbitrarily was the new bad guy
I really really like the first and the second ones. The rest are kinda crappy,
First was good, second went in a new direction and was OK, the rest are all 'lol gore'.
I find them very entertaining. They're kinda my alternative to watching real gore videos on the web.
I agree, the ones with Hoffman in are pretty shitty. I liked the first 2 though.
I thought the first one was fantastic.
The second one was okay, although the twist at the end was amazing
All the others have been entertaining...but also very meh. Just torture porn and what not.
I liked the first one, the second was okay, and I don't care for the rest. It's just getting tired.
What do you mean films. As far as I'm concerned there's only one Saw film.
I have somehow managed to watch segments of each one, and not enjoyed a single second.
They're all piss poor excuses for films and anyone who actually enjoys them all should be thrown into a pit filled with used syringes.
Soulless torture porn
1 and 2 were great, 3-7 were good not great but I still enjoyed them
I honestly didn't see the ending of 7 coming, I mean sure I did see the obvious hints that he was helping Jigsaw but I didn't expect them to actually do it for the final movie
The ending of the first Saw is amazing, and alone makes it one of my favorite horror films. It doesn't hurt that the rest of the movie was far better then most of the tripe that you usually see in horror movies: so yeah, it's good.
For the rest of them, I liked the second one fine enough, and everything I've seen after two was shit.

Same for me, first one is awesome, second was pretty good. After that it goes downhill.
I watched them for the story more than the gore. If I want gore I'll watch a mindless gore flick.
Unfortunately the general audience just watches for the gore/traps so they kept focusing on making all these elaborate gore traps. I enjoyed the gore and all, I just wish there was less of it.
I can understand it, but I just wish they focused more on the story. It's very interesting when you put it all together.
Despite it though, the story was very enjoyable to me. Although the ending may have been predictable, I liked it.
Donnie Wahlberg was awesome.
I liked the first two, I think mainly because of the twists at the end, the twists were awesome.
Saw 5 and 6 are probably two of the most boring films ever.
I thought it was a crap attempt of being a "gore film", a real gore film is the guinea pig series (e.g. mermaid in a manhole), Saw 1 was entertaining but I didn't bother with the others since it was getting old fast.
Loved Saw 1 to death, rather liked Saw 2-3, and after that... well, I still liked them in ways, but I could tell that I had become a "periphery demographic" when it came to who the writers wanted to cater to. I know it's cliche, but I really did like the series "for the plot". The Jigsaw killer was an interesting fellow, and I wanted to see how his ideas/legacy shtick eventually played out.
Not to mention that, from the third movie onward, every entry essentially went "Fuck the future writers, we're using up everything now." When it became obvious that no one in the entire goddamn series was considered "less expendable" than anyone else, it really bumped up the suspense for me in segments. It was interesting to experience a story where the guys in charge weren't afraid of breaking their toys; even to the point where I constantly left installments wondering how it could be possible to pick up the pieces and get a new story out of them.
But nobody ever talks about that. Just murder porn.
SAW V can burn.
I saw either the third or the fourth one. I didn't much care for it.
Apparently none of you paid much attention to the movies, they had the whole saga planned out from the beginning, and literally every single open ended event was tied up by the end.
I saw Saw. I saw Saw II too.
I like the first movie and actually think it's watchable, they don't overdo the gore in that one. The second was much more violent in my opinion but it had some good twists. After the third I lost interest in the Saw films, I do admit some of the traps are interesting but I need some point to enjoy a movie.
