Google+ opened its doors to the public last week, and has since seen a whopping 1269 percent growth in traffic, according to data from Experian Hitwise. The social network may also have hit 50 million members, according to analyst Paul Allen.
Google+ has been seen as one of the fasted growing social networks since it first appeared on the grid. The social network reached 10 million users, two weeks out of the box, which Google+ analyst Paul Allen of Ancestry.com predicted days before the company actually announced the numbers in its second quarter earnings call. Allen also predicted Google+ reaching 25 million members after only a month of existence. It took Twitter about 30 months to hit this high and Facebook about three years.
The recent traffic spike was seen between September 17th and September 24th, Google+ opened its doors to everyone on September 20th. It also reportedly saw 15 million total US visits last week.
It begins. With Facebook doing suicide, I can tell you why Google+ is growing.
I wonder what the next thing after Google+ will be.

The internet will surprise us.
It's still empty though. Lots of people have it, but nobody's bothering to use it. :/
Wait, so...
They had a huge influx of users at the start, then it really died down for a while, and now there's a huge influx again?
So... now what?

Dear god yes
Especially if it's like "Ask Jeeves+ will never reveal your private information nor collect information you don't want collected, Mr. Wayne."
"Ask Jeeves+ will never sell your information without your consent, Mr. Wayne."
"Ask Jeeves+ will actually delete your information if you want it deleted, Mr. Wayne."
Partly due to not being shady with your info, partly due to getting called Batman.

Bingbook.
EDIT:
Half of the page is stolen from Google+, except with Microsoft printed over it.
Members =/= active members
Almost everybody I know on G+ has made an account to check it out but still does all of their socializing on FB.
I just use G+ for AngryBirds
Because it was invite only and just last week it became open, I think.
Members =/= active members
Hey, it's a start. Some of those 50 million are bound to be active. And that's generally how social networks grow.
I think this is mainly to do with that arrow that appears when you go to google

Actually it's just been ask.com since 05.
I think also the amount of people complaining about Facebook this week may be part of it. I dont understand why people are so angry but they are

Gee I dunno, maybe because they don't like where Facebook is currently heading.
So this is why they made it invite only before. This is just like that south park episode with cartman's own amusement park.
Its all a conspiracy.
Facebook getting killed by itself, Google+ going up. Zuckerberg sold out :v:
I have google+ but never used it since. I'm always using facebook.
btw, congrats google, did you beat facebook in start up users?

Don't think that Google is any better. Maybe Google is playing the "we're the good guys" but numerous times they've been caught in privacy problems.
They are in it for the same reasons Facebook is
I'm sorry to offend little kids, but i really hope no kids are ever going to discover Google+.

It's gonna happen eventually.

They're both evil, but Google is the lesser evil.
See what I'm hinting at?

Actually I'd say they are both about the same. Sure, Facebook logs your information after you log off. But Google tracks you all the time, and website you visit, any time you fap, Google is watching.
People will start using Google+ when Facebook becomes MySpace. It's a cycle. Before Facebook, if you didn't have MySpace, you were a "loser with no friends". Before MySpace it was what? Xanga? Tagged?
And none of these new users are my friends :(
no point using it if my friends and family aren't.

It was definitely Xanga for me. It was cool to have the windows media player on your page for people to listen/watch. :D

But Google doesn't make it incredibly easy to distribute everything they have on you. Facebook with it's new 'Open Graph' tracks your activity on all websites that have it enabled, and doesn't give you a choice.
Assuming I read the Gizmodo article correctly
Aside from facebook being stupidly managed, the massive rise in this chain status nonsense is probably playing a part.
Just noticed facebook is being spammed with ads a lot more than usual (like right in the middle of news feeds) good way to try and keep your users that is!
Edit:
Fuckin' Durp, turns out I'd disabled AdBlocker at some point :v:
Made an account on Google+ and wasn't really all that impressed with the privacy options. A lot of stuff I couldn't hide or if I could it wouldn't actually change the setting. Such as hiding my email address.
Couple that with the fact there's no one on yet and it's not really worth using yet for me.
