Well, we can only hope that the movie is a good one. Also I hope they do do another Deus Ex game, but if they do they have to take their time and make it up to standards; those standards being Human Revolution quality or higher up to perhaps the original Deus Ex.
this is gonna turn out like every other video game movie
shit

Hey, hey, hey. That Hitman film was merely "kinda mediocre".
The movies get better with less association to the video games. Hitman was pretty ok because it did not base everything on the fact it came from a video game. Doom was terrible because it literally had parts that were in first person... like in the game.

So if they make the film without thinking too much about the games, and just base it in the same world, it has a ton of potential.

I can see why they would choose the world of deus ex as a setting. Human revolution really set a solid foundation for a sci fi movie. It's already got a solid art style down, and the tech that would appear in a movie has already been designed. I mean the cinematic trailers themselves look like they came out of a movie.

Keanu Reeves as Adam Jensen

well jensen is emotionless
And I get to post this one more time:
Here's the thread from a week ago about it: http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1248941
And I'm going to quote myself:
I think the problem is people are just reading the title and maybe glancing over the quote at best then posting.
Here's another part from the same story:
"And it's not a rehashing of the game. What they want to see is, they want to see elements of the game that they love, but they want to see things that they hadn't quite seen in the game, that the game didn't allow them to see."
What that seems to be saying is, "Our movie is going to explore more of the Deus Ex universe that players aren't able to see through a game." Same world but not following the stories of the games but instead a story of its own. That's actually a very good thing, you don't want them trying to adapt the story from one of the games in to a movie, especially not with a series with such a heavy focus on player choices that lead to differing outcomes.
As long as they have the original writers at the set as creative dispute it might be good.
Kind of glad it's not a new Deus Ex game, not really sure where they would go with a new game, story-wise. Would like to see a game that retcons Invisible War out of existence though.
It's being written by Robert Cargill, the guy who wrote Sinister and who happens to be an avid gamer. He's played through Deus Ex a few times and is taking the source material pretty seriously. So this definitely has a shot.
Its definitely going to be about the protests on human augmentation(that we didn't get to see in the game)

Keanu Reeves really would make a good Deus Ex main character actor.
Considering JC was deliberately emotionless, and he could do a good Jensen.
Hey, hey, hey. That Hitman film was merely "kinda mediocre".
The best game movie (in my opinion) is Silent Hill. Sure it wasn't good, but I kinda enjoyed it.
The hitman movie just kinda fucked itself over by giving Agent 47 too many emotions. IIRC he falls in love or some stupid shit like that.
