The Community Wishlist is one of the things that makes GOG.com tick, because no matter what, we're always working hard to listen and deliver. Whether it's games, website features, or GOG Galaxy development - the Community Wishlist is always the first place we look, and it's proven time and time again to be our favorite bargaining chip on the quest for new games and a better GOG.com. With just a tad over one million wishlist votes fulfilled, we want to take this opportunity to look at just a few of the wishes we got to take on.
Out of all the games in the world, several stand out as most highly requested. System Shock 2 at 36,000 votes was one of our first major conquests - this is the game that really paved way for the most fantastic retro releases and, back when we needed it most, showed how much demand and excitement there can still be for the classics. Who knows, perhaps there is more legendary horror lurking right around the corner, hackers.
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind at 25,000 votes just joined our gang alongside the earlier Elder Scrolls titles and more Bethesda goodness - but that's not all the wishlisted games, not by a long shot. With your help we checked off the X-Wing and TIE Fighter series, DOOM & Quake, Sam & Max Hit The Road and way, way more.
Bit by bit, we're improving GOG.com - adding new features, and changing things up. Across the years we've addedMac and Linux support (and then changed the Linux icon) to your games, introduced little things like update notifications, comprehensive change-logs, and the ability to mark your games as completed (and many other tags). The community wishlist was also one of the many reasons we began working on GOG Galaxy.
There's still a lot of work ahead of us, and there are a ton of things in progress: we're still hunting for more, and more, and more classics, we're working on making GOG Galaxy the best gaming client you've ever used, and we're still actively seeking a specialist who can hook us up with some more time (a few hours per day would be nice) to do all that. All of this, while we continue to be a DRM-free store today, tomorrow, and forever!
The community wishlist is a great way for you to keep us aware of your needs, and it's an equally powerful tool for us to react, and to prioritise the future. So if there's a game you've always wanted, a great idea for the site, or something that's been bugging you for ages - don't hesitate, make a wish or cast your vote. It might just become our next big project.
That's amazing.
Any progress on their hunt for SWAT 4 license?

Yeah, seems like we are still waiting.

Came to this thread just praying that SWAT 4 would be mentioned. Still nothing.
Well, GOG Team keeps their progress in secret. However, they do sometimes leave a hint to what's coming. Like the return of Fallout games. When people noticed that Fallout 1,2 and Tactics have a Classic title at the end. People speculated that GOG might had stroke a deal with Zenimax. Every team responded with dots and eventually one of them said "3,2,1....LIFT OFF!" then boom, news that Bethesda joined GOG and people went nuts about it.
GOG Team is unpredictable, but once you follow what is going on, you may eventually find out what's coming.

Also, I want a sequel.
I hope one day I can buy Star Trek Bridge Commander on GOG, that is my one dream.
Seriously go vote for it if you haven't already.
Final liberation was one of mine.
Still waiting for Blade Runner, doubt it will ever come to GoG though :(
I wanna see Zoo Tycoon pop up on GOG. If there was one game that defined my childhood, it's probably that.
Those who wonder when SWAT 4 will be on GOG. Well, here's a reasonable answer, not from the team though:
As with the vast majority of classic releases, GOG won't comment on them beforehands so, no, there hasn't been any visible progress. Also, for whatever reason, Activision (who owns the game) hasn't released a single game here ever since October 2012, so things aren't looking too good at the moment.
So yea, we have to make Activision to release their games on GOG more.
I can only hope GOG miraculously navigates the hellish web of licensing to re-release Cryo Interactive's "Dune". Though, Westwood's Dune II would be cool too, especially now that the fan remake is out.

Seconding this if only for the expansions.
I also wouldn't mind Theme Park world/Sim Theme Park, preferably with the UK version of the advisor.
I love GOG to bits, basically not been disappointed by them yet. having no DRM on your games is an incredible breath of fresh air and the fact that they usually patch older games to run on newer PCs is wonderful. hopefully they won't turn evil in time

Hate to break it to you but the games assets were lost when Westwood closed its doors. It will never see an update and the remaining copies of the game are all that's left.

I'd love it if a team of fans recreated it in an entirely new engine.
Still waiting for Blade Runner, doubt it will ever come to GoG though :(
It is possible to run it still but making it convenient enough to warrant being on GOG I'm not so sure about.
It's just a shame all the assets are completely gone some minor touch-ups would really help it.

Probably the best Star Trek game

Lost source code hasn't stopped GOG from re-releasing a game before. In fact, from GOG's experience, it's rare for the source code to be available for classic titles.
Once a deal has been struck with the new rights holders, the team are – in theory – free to update the game’s ancient source code to run on modern systems. There’s one problem, however: in almost all cases, the original code has been lost or deleted.
“Source and game code is an extremely rare commodity for us,” explains Paczyński. “Older titles have often gone through so many different hands that no one knows who has the original code anymore, or it no longer exists in any usable form.” With source files lost forever, the team’s only recourse is to retrofit retail code taken from a boxed copy of the game.
While publishers are occasionally able to supply an archived build, most classics necessitate a scavenger hunt for the best available edition of the title. These are often found among the GOG crew – “it’s probably not a surprise that many of us are collectors!” adds Paczyński – but it’s not uncommon for the team to trawl the web in search of second-hand copies.
Man I wish 7.62 High Calibre would pop up on GOG, too bad it's owned by a 1C and is such a broken piece of shit. :v:
Still a fun game, it's the Jagged Alliance 3 in my book.

Looked it up, looks like a game I should play. Picked it up on steam for a fiver.

Make sure you select the blue sun mod in the beta tab of the game on steam. The devs added the mod because it fixes a bunch of stuff and adds a metric crap ton on top of the original game.
Still waiting on Freelancer...
Still waiting on Freelancer...
Holy shit you just triggered a huge forgotten memory of mine. I used to rent that game from my local library all the time (remember when you could rent physical PC games :v: ?). I wanted to own it, but it wasn't sold locally and I couldn't figure out how to copy the disc because I was a kiddo. I've been wondering what the name of the game was ever since then.
Really hoping we can get Shadows of the Empire one day.
