I find this disgusting, I live in egypt (says USA because of registration country) and if you piss off one egyptian, the whole entire country is after your ass.
I understand why the dude did this however.
She may be one of the most famous people on the planet, but Beyonce was no match for Egypt's "Indiana Jones".
The singer was stopped from seeing the Pyramids because she kept renowned archaeologist Zahi Hawass waiting and refused to apologize, he has revealed.
"Most people I take on tours are very nice and we become friends. But this lady…," Hawass, the former Egyptian Minister of State for Antiquities, told The Independent newspaper.

"She said she would come at 3 p.m. but she came late. I said 'You have to say I'm sorry I'm late'. But she didn't open her mouth.
"I brought a photographer and she also had a photographer and a guard. When my photographer started to shoot, he said 'No, Stop! I am the one who says yes or no, not you.' I said 'In that case since you almost hit my photographer and you are not polite — out! I am not giving you the privilege of having you on my tour.' I said Beyoncé was stupid and I left," he told the newspaper. Hawass lost his job during the uprising in Egypt in 2011.
He has been accused of corruption over the alleged smuggling of antiquities.
Holy shit, This is the first time i seen a egyptian teach manners.
however really egypt's indiana jones how the fuck is he indiana jones.
So she's not a part of the Illuminati huh.
This changes everything!
If she was this would be the perfect cover.
Zahi Hawass will tear you a new one if you don't show him or his workers proper respect, same goes for monuments. The fellow's practically like Gordon Ramsay when it comes to his work and on the conservation of ancient monuments.
I'm not defending Beyonce for being rude and disrespectful, but Hawass is a fucking dickhole anyway.
Seems like this guy has few screws loose.
I'm not defending Beyonce for being rude and disrespectful, but Hawass is a fucking dickhole anyway.
Hawass may be a dick hole, but at least he isn't one of those egyptians (the many that roam the streets fucking hammering on my car for 6 egyptian pounds and spitting on my windshields for MONEY.)
that when they see a rich person, do whatever she says for cashcashcashcashcash. Seriously, you should see the fucking police here, You can even BRIBE THEM to do actions for you, For a dollar (6/7 pounds) which is pretty cheap. Hell, you can murder someone in front of them and they would.
A:Run away
B:ask for money
C:be the right guy (1 percent chance)
or D:do zero shits
Hell, even in the american zones, theres only one cop there that does 0 things.
I see where he gets his attitude, being inconsiderate around stuff as old as ancient egypt could have pretty dire consequences.

Yeah this is my understanding of Hawass as well, its like if you booked a "cooking lesson" with Gordon Ramsay and decided to show up late.. things aren't going to run smoothly.
I'm not defending Beyonce for being rude and disrespectful, but Hawass is a fucking dickhole anyway.
Honestly what a fucking nutter. I know it's expected to show manners but going "If you don't apologize to me then I will have you banned from seeing this ancient monument" is astoundingly arrogant.
Seriously, How would you react if someone said to you:
"You have to say I'm sorry I'm late"

Basic courtesy is kind of a given in the interactions we have with one another, or we'd all be sniping at each other during the simplest of conversations.

Sorry to interrupt your rant on how Hawass isn't a corrupt asshole, but I think you missed the part where he might be a corrupt asshole.
He has been accused of corruption over the alleged smuggling of antiquities.
barring the dude's fame/infamy for being the gordon ramsey of his trade, I wouldn't be too happy if I showed up late to something and the dude sat there telling me how to apologize to him. I'd be perfectly happy to apologize by my own free will and make up for lost time, unless a pissy set of demands were the first thing to come out of anybody's mouth
Basic courtesy is kind of a given in the interactions we have with one another, or we'd all be sniping at each other during the simplest of conversations.
And demanding an apology is considered basic courtesy?
Archaeologist all around the world finds Hawass to be a dickhead too.
And demanding an apology is considered basic courtesy?
To be precise: We apologize on demand!
I'm just saying that she should have had the good sense to mention she was sorry for being late. He was a bit pushy there with demanding an apology, but still, it's partly her fault too.
Her bodyguard falsely assumed he has complete jurisdiction of wherever Beyonce is, and got kicked out for it instead. Good.
Was Hawass' photographer taking pictures of the pyramids or Beyonce? If it was the pyramids then I can understand Hawass being upset over the bodyguard telling the photographer to stop, but if he was taking photos of Beyonce then I think it'd understandable for the bodyguard to tell him to stop.

i remember when he had a show on the history channel which was filmed a year before the revolution over there. he even tore one for the students that were there working on the pyramids. my calc III professor is egyptian and is exactly like this guy, its kinda funny
Starpluck is pretty much exactly right. Thlis, im saying that hes one of the few egyptians in egypt that isnt running around like a chicken asking for money from rich people or getting bribed, He may be corrupt, but there are only 3 egyptians i know of who are not people getting supplied by marrying rich americans, begging, or robbed a bank or someshit.
EDIT: Also, he didnt say that you couldnt set foot for that, He said you couldnt set foot because her bodyguard was about to punch the photographer in the face, and also act like hes the "big boss" like some rich people that come here do.
Hell, i once saw in the street that some guy wearing expensive as fuck clothes and riding on a very expensive bike got the shit beaten out of him because he spat on one of the homeless peoples carpet on the road. then stepped on it, making it even dirtier. and then laughed, before getting the shit beaten out of him and his bike, I saw it, but i didnt do shit, because i would get beaten up, or public enemy number 1 for all of Maadi. my city.

It was Beyonce's photographer taking offense to Hawass's photographer taking pictures of the Pyramids first. Hawass wasn't going to have any of that on his home turf, and turfed them both out as a result.
na it appears the photogropher (hawass's) took a pic of beyonce infront of the pyramids and then her photographer flipped out, then hawass kicked him out

I can't imagine Hawass would be taking pictures of JUST the Pyramids considering he probably sees them all the time.
Sableye, read the article.
"I brought a photographer and she also had a photographer and a guard. When my photographer started to shoot, he said 'No, Stop! I am the one who says yes or no, not you.'
Dont you think the news would have mentioned if he did that? The photographer was prob taking pictures to paste at his bosses office to get people on his tour.
Or ( a small chance ) he was taking pictures for her anyway as a free service.
I can't imagine Hawass would be taking pictures of JUST the Pyramids considering he probably sees them all the time.
No, he was probably taking pictures of the tour to paste in the next newsletter, which is perfectly acceptable. They obviously appeared to (violenty) refuse consent, so they got booted.
As much of a hardass as Hawass is (haha look at that) I really don't blame him for what he did, here. He's a grouch but he's also fair, and when he's disrespected he won't hesitate to do the same in earnest - no matter who he's dealing with. I can respect that.
dr hawass may as well haw his ass away from them pyramids if he's gonna be a willie scott about it

He was also probably curing cancer at the time as well.
You can't use something you made up as justification.

Sorry but that doesn't really make him less of an ass in this situation. Saying "At least he isn't a serial killer" is irrelevant.

If you can't have basic manners why should other people be considerate towards you? What makes Beyonce so entitled to be able to waste other people's time?
