Guys, I know this is a dumb thread to you and I'll probably get banned for it, but I need help. I'm very depressed, all the time. I don't know why, my family cares about me and I have a good life but almost everything just makes me want to cry. I know I'm not much to you guys, and you probably don't care if I live or die, but I really want to know how to get rid of my depression. I'm almost suicidal at times. It'd mean so much to me if you'd give me a good answer. Please help me.
Go to a psychiatrist? Did something happen to you recently?
Go to a psychiatric? Did something happen to you recently?
No, I'm homeschooled though so I'm pretty isolated.
No, I'm homeschooled though so I'm pretty isolated.
Do you have friends?
Here is a list: - Find a Hobby - Find something where you could get good at (It's never late to learn). - Help people (Join charity programs or help people from your family) - Do exercise (It makes feel better with yourself) - Make a goal - Listen to music (non-sad music) - Try new videogames. - Make videos. - Mastery a skill. * Talk with someone (Get away what is behind your depression) If nothing helps, find help.
Could be the problem with no friends to talk to. Other wise, my advice is go talk to a psychiatrist or do what Nikolai says above.
go see a psychiatrist instead of posting about it on the internet. seriously. what do you expect any of us to do. dont be stupid and go seek legitimate help if it honestly concerns you

I'll try your other ideas though! Go outside more, don't stay at your house. Go to a park or a beach, don't stay home for too long.

Don't take the drugs
This thread will help: http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1250748
Thank you! You just saved me from commuting suicide! [editline]6th April 2013[/editline]
Don't take the drugs
Yes, I know, anti-depressants are very bad for you. Thank you for your reply!
i'll hug you
Yes, I know, anti-depressants are very bad for you.
No. I'd have offed myself years ago without medication.
I've been going through the same issue. Writing has definitely helped me work out a lot of my feelings, as well as seeing a therapist. Also, just getting out and experiencing new things, along with working out. The endorphins will give you a boost of energy and some happiness, and then you can tackle new and different things. Travel, if you have the option. Also, reading is great help.
So, is there any particular reason you are depressed, or are you depressed without knowing why? If it's the latter, I've had that happen before. I solved it by realizing that if I myself don't know what I'm depressed about, then there must therefore not actually be anything that should bother me. Surely I would remember what I'm so sad about if it had such a great impact on me. You could try that. If it's the former, tell us the reason, and maybe we can help you.
i'll hug you
He'll do it man. I've seen him. He's merciless.
Whenever I am depressed I feel I am trading my perception for stability

"Be not afraid of growing slowly, be afraid only of standing still." Work on your basic framework and needs, and ask yourself when you get up in the morning: Do I feel good, or do I feel great? Feel free to take those statements with a grain of salt, but that's how I like to look at life. Things will get better in time and as you learn. Just remember that quote. And do what Sgt. Nikolai said, seriously it'll help get rid of some uncertainties with identity, etc. Not that I know your complete situation or anything, in general it'll help. I had a lot of doubt at one point in my life, but what he suggested has been working for me so far.
I would definitely say to follow Nikolai's suggestions. However, I would say to see a psychiatrist even if it doesn't feel that bad right now. Talking to a psychiatrist is probably one of the few things that really helped me during my Depression. It helps to have someone completely impartial to talk to and help you figure out a path to becoming more stable so that the illness doesn't have as much of an effect on your life.
I'm going to give you a piece of advice that may or may not help you. It helped me, though. If you find yourself constantly putting yourself down, try not to let yourself do that. I do care if you live or die, and while I can't necessarily speak for everyone else here, I think it's safe to say that others here care about you, too.
I suffer Depression for about one year now and it got worse and worse. I am not sure wether I can help you with it, but I found ways to cope sometimes. You see, nearly every Depression has it's reason but sometimes it is somewhat unseen. You have to start thinking what it might be, because the source is the way out. I feel lonely and empty all the time like there's a void inside me but I have friends and a good brother who cares for me, but it got kinda better when a girl that I had liked for a long time confessed that she likes me aswell now. I know that it is easily said but hard to do but you just have to keep looking forward and searching for your source. Just stand up when the Depression pushes you down, after all it is nothing more but thoughts and feels in your head. Keep reminding you that you as a person are something valuable on this planet because after all, as stupid as it may sound, you won your life in that sperm-contest (lol). The goal I have given myself now is to keep going and become more happy so I can justify this privilege.
hobby hobby hobby get a hobby [editline]6th April 2013[/editline] that wasn't meant in a derogatory way either
if it makes you feel any better, here's a few pictures of my adorable puppy [t]https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/885100_355606644540523_325178079_o.jpg[/t] [t]https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/904021_355606544540533_2095181191_o.jpg[/t] [t]https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-frc1/906986_355606671207187_2140105008_o.jpg[/t]
I've been through something similar myself and all I can say is you won't feel like this all the time. There'll come a point where things won't seem quite so bad anymore and I personally found that quite a reassuring thought, even if I had to constantly remind myself of it.
I was depressed once, but not to your extreme. If i were you, i'd listen to Sgt. Nikolai, he seems like he knows what he's talking about.
If you find yourself constantly putting yourself down, try not to let yourself do that.
I'm not that guy, but it's not always that easy.
No, I'm homeschooled though so I'm pretty isolated.
I was homeschooled for two years. I left primary school early because I was bullied like fuck and apparently I was starting to go a bit suicidal. I decided to go back to school (by this time I was half-way through the second year of secondary school) and from then on everything got better. Now I've got quite a few friends. Take a leap, try a different school and get that life back on track. Edit: Also, you may listen to music but what kind? Usually, people listen to music that goes with their mood- it's the opposite for me. Music determines my mood. Here's a personal fave: Always gets my mood up. It's upbeat, cheery and I listen to it all the time for motivation.
