I am being forced into getting Windows 7 because apparently it's the only fix currently for the game All Points Bulletin crashing for me. According to numerous posts on the APB forums having a 32 bit OS can make APB crashy due to it requesting more than that your OS can handle. So I'm wondering a couple of things:
1. Can I upgrade from XP to Win7 without having to reinstall everything?
2. If I cannot do that I was told that Win7 keeps a backup of all your old files in a win.old file somewhere, is this true and if so what would be backed up?
3. Would I be able to get a new HDD keep all the old files on the old HDD and use both hard drives without installing Win7 on the old one but installing it on the new one?
If you have any questions or requests to ask me I will be happy to answer them to try and fix this crashy game.
1. No.
2. Yes, it's true. During the installation just select the partition where you want 7 to install and it will move everything that's currently on that partition to Windows.old
3. Yes, of course.
Though I think it's because I'm quite tired and this might sound retarded but installing it on a new HDD would mean I'd be able to browse the old HDD and use files from it like normal just it would be a secondary drive rather than a primary?
Yep
Ah good think I'll do that then. Does anyone know where to buy Windows 7 with a student discount in the UK?
