The stalwart Nexus warriors who have been making do with the Nexus 5 for the last two years finally have another option in the same size range. The LG-built Nexus 5X is official, and it's available for pre-order today. It's the Nexus 5 the internet deserves, not the one we need.

Android Police has successfully blown the doors off of the 2015 Nexus announcements, but now Google has made its flagship phone for this year official. The Nexus 6P is the larger of the two smartphones announced today, and the first Nexus device ever to come from Chinese manufacture Huawei. The phone will be one of the first devices to launch with Android 6.0 "Marshmallow," as expected for new Nexus hardware.

Google's Chromecast streaming gadget was a surprise success when the company introduced it in 2013 - although perhaps not so surprising when you consider that it plays web video from a variety of services and undercuts even the cheapest competitors from the likes of Roku and Apple TV. Chromecast hasn't had a major revision in over two years, perhaps because it hasn't really needed one. But now there's one available, a new hockey puck design with an "dangling" HDMI port, wider Wi-Fi support, and better video thanks to an improved antenna design.

Yesterday, we broke news of the Pixel C, an upcoming premium tablet from Google that would run Android and carry the company's high-end Pixel name. Today, the company has made that device official. Meet the Pixel C.
Up to this point, the only Pixel products we've seen have been running Chrome OS, so the move to Android is a slight transition, but it's not one that doesn't make sense. In fact, this a great way to expand the Pixel line into something more than just Chromebooks and turn it into a premium name that runs parallel to the Nexus program.

So there you are, pining hard over one of the new Nexus phones so you can get your hands on the latest stuff Google has to offer. The anticipation must be excruciating. But fret not, dear friends, because good news is afoot: Marshmallow will begin making its way to the Nexus 5, 6, 7 (2013), 9, and Player started "next week" — most likely on October 5th like we heard yesterday. That's also the day that we expect 6.0 to start hitting AOSP.
If I were shopping for a flagship right now it would almost certainly be the 6p that thing looks so great.
Sucks I just got my Nexus 6 less than a year ago. Oh well, I'll adopt the 6P late.
I dunno my chromecast is great but dangling from the HDMI port sounds sketchy
The lack of OIS is a bit lame though.

Why? I have two. They're fine.
The new sensor hub is the most interesting thing about this.
3,450 mAh battery, the rumors were wrong :V
5X is a bit too low spec wise compared to other phones that go for around the same price (Moto X Pure, OnePlus 2), and the 6P is a bit too pricey for my books.
I was looking forward to upgrading to possibly another Nexus from my Nexus 4, but I guess it looks like I'll be going for the Moto X this time.
I really do miss when Nexus phones were able to strike the balance of having great specs for a relatively low price. The Nexus 4 and original Nexus 5 were the kings of that.
The lack of OIS is a bit lame though.
People have been saying that the pixel sensor is big enough that OIS isn't necessarily needed.

He's talking about the new puck refresh, not the compact current version that clings since there's no distance between it and the HDMI port (and therefore no cable aside from USB).

The current/old version comes with an extender though that I and I'm sure many others have used without a problem.
If I wasn't a big fan of Apple and wasn't currently owning an iPhone 6S Plus, this would easily be my other "go to" phone that's currently available on the market.

I have a bad experience with Ultrapixel
I still have a nexus 4, so I got the 6p. hopefully it isn't too big for me.
The lack of OIS is a bit lame though.
Was kinda irked by that too, but I guess it's not too big of a problem if they felt confident enough to not include it.
There's some photos taken by the new camera. Looks pretty great.
The Pixel C looks very nice, but Android apps are absolutely garbage on a tablet, even Google apps refuse to use the damn screen real estate efficiently, and that's not a jab at Googles fetish for whitespace as their apps are using identical layouts to phones running their apps.
Way back when the Galaxy Tab 10.1 was new, there was a tablet version of the store that would update several apps at once, but it was eventually overwritten by the generic phone version. Always seemed like a weird step backward.
preordering the 6p this week when it becomes available on UK carriers. gonna be mad upgrading from an iphone 4 to the huge 6p
Why? I have two. They're fine.
you have these new ones? I have that thumb-drive one and that's fine
but these just look like they'll damage your ports
[editline]30th September 2015[/editline]
like the puck doesn't look like it sticks to the tv or anything
I have a bad experience with Ultrapixel
I had a HTC One M8 and for all the praise that phone's camera got it was still quite shit, low light photos were blurry as shit and the lens was all fucked up so basically no matter what you did you could never get your photos looking as good as day 1.

I have two of the flash drive-ey looking ones. They have extension cables too that make it basically hang from the TV. It's fine. They don't weigh much of anything so unless you're pulling on it hard for some stupid reason, the HDMI port will be fine.
too bad the rest of the world gets fucked over with price markups
the usual direct translation from USD to EUR is bad enough with most electronics but this is just absolutely ridiculous lol

$725(for the cheapest model) and we don't even get the $50 play store credit either
Holy shit that music choice is hilariously cringy and bad :v:
Going to wait for some battery tests before deciding whether to get a 6P or a Moto X Style. The battery on my Nexus 5 has become absolutely pathetic.
[editline]30th September 2015[/editline]
I would prefer a 6P unless the battery is shit

Unless they really messed up android this update that 3,450 mAh battery will probably be great.
id like one because i have a nexus 4 thats been a bit dodgy recently but no doubt if they even carry them EE with put them in overpriced contract bands, i should really switch to another carrier
My Chromecast Audio came in the mail today and I love it.

Wow, less than £350 in the US. Can they be imported and still work on the correct frequencies? It'd still be a ton cheaper adding on import tax.
I've had my Chromecast 2 since Friday, it's waaaaaay better than the original. It doesn't randomly lose connection or get stuck in a bad state. I did have issues during setup though only because my access point was in limbo itself. The setup process is really nice to work with this time around, and once you set it up for the first time it plays a little tutorial video while it installs firmware updates.
The chromecast app (I believe formerly something else, Google Cast or something) is vastly improved. The home page shows you recommended castable videos, music, and pictures from the apps you have installed. The setup page lets you easily set up chromecasts as well as change backdrop settings. You can now select from the sources that backdrop pulls from, whether its news or photo aggregate sites or satellite pictures from NASA, or even from your own google+ albums. Finally, it has a tab to let you search for chromecast compatible apps. This used to only be a feature on the desktop website, but now you can browse recommended castable apps easily.
Also, Spotify updated to be able to cast as well as spotify connect.
I can't leave it plugged in for a prolonged test though because I don't have a power outlet near the HDMI ports anymore. I can easily get a longer usb cable for it, though, or use my own HDMI coupler with a cable to give it extra reach.
If it wasn't obvious, I adore this thing. It's exactly what I wanted the first one to be.

i'm fairly certain we use some sort of different network type in europe and while they'll work you won't have as many options/less coverage or whatever
not sure
