ok, I want to make a home network with internet acces
I have some random modem and a wireless router(cheap TP-LINK) connected to it,
there are three machines connected to it, one by wireless and two by wire
the one with wireless connection has XP SP3 instaled, and the two with cable connection have installed windows 7 and xp sp2
if i make a home network out of this, will I be able to share data from one computer to another, and will I have acces to the printer(the printer is connected to the windows 7 machine) on the xp machine
If all the connections between the computers work then you possibly could share folders and files and by enabling printer sharing you also can print from other computers. I have tried to do the same - sharing data is easy, but printer sharing might be tricky to set up.
FYI, you need 3 public address in your NAT pool from your ISP to have access to internet in every computer otherwise you have to make overloading (PAT).

Printer sharing probably takes all of 10 seconds to set up from XP on up.

Most modern home consumer routers do that automatically anyway.

Pretty much. The only real trouble I have ever had was with Windows 7 connecting to a printer on a Windows 2000 machine. It said access denied every time I tried to add it. But I just set the port as the network path to the printer, and all is well now.
Make sure you set every computer to be in the same workgroup. Makes it a metric ton easier, since they will see each other automatically.
