What kind of music? And do you also want to compose? Most DAWs allow you to compose and record within them but mixing doesn't have much to do with making and recording the music. Mixing is done when you have everything recorded and you apply different effects and do equalization and such. If you were going to record music through a mic and not go the electronic route I'd recommend you a different DAW than if you intended on just creating electronic music.
Your best bet is to try out a bunch and see what you like best. All of them can achieve the same results. Some have more advanced features and have higher quality vst effects and instruments, but I don't really see that as much of a factor because you can always find better plugins on KVR.
Reaper is really nice. It's easy to use too..
I think he means mixing songs, as in DJ'ing
use traktor
Most people don't know what mixing is, I doubt a beginner would know. If he does I'll give him props.
I would recommend Traktor.
A big fuck you to everyone that said FL.
If you're looking to make music, you need a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW)
I've used FL, Ableton, Logic and Reason. My fav was reason because it's fucking easy to use for a beginner (ironically it looks like the most complicated thing ever) Reason manager resources amazingly - and you could have it running fast on a 6 year old laptop (unlike FL which fails to hold more than 10 tracks simultaniously on my higher performance PC)Learning reason is also easier since the tuts on youtube are professional (kids get scared of reason and use FL instead, thus making pointless tutorials on YT)
If you want to actually mix (combine 2 or more songs to create an audio compilation) I can only recommend virtual dj (as it is the only mixing utility I used) It gives you just enough control to make nice sounding mixes and can even beatmatch for you if you'd like that (level the tempo of both songs so you can make smooth transitions) You could try Traktor - but It seems more advanced/not for the beginner.
I want to make some Techno Music and Remixes.
FL Studios, Reason, and Cubase for producing.
Traktor, Virtual DJ, and Deckadance for mixing.

Take your choice and start experiementing
Reason + FL Studio, you don't need 2 programs that do the same thing.
Not too sure about the DJing stuff though.
