The BBC has dismissed accusations that Top Gear deliberately chose a car with a number plate appearing to refer to the Falklands War to cause controversy while filming in Argentina. The programme's cast and crew are flying out of the country after facing protests from politicians and army veterans. Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond were reportedly among those who had to abandon their cars at the roadside and flee after being pelted with stones by an angry crowd.
http://news.sky.com/story/1346704/top-gear-team-driven-out-of-argentina
This is going to be a really funny episode. Like that time they got chased by a bunch of pissed off rednecks in Alabama.

Boo-hoo a number plate has the year of a war on it, we're going to throw a tantrum. Get over it Argentina
Its more about being lads and having "bantar" than cars I think.

they're still assroated over the falklands?
Driven heh
Disgraceful acts by the Argies there. It's been long enough, you'd think they'd have accepted it by now.
Jesus christ this just makes Argentina look bad being so butt hurt, how long until their president has a cry again
They should do the rest of the episode in the Falklands as a big fuck you.
They should do the rest of the episode in the Falklands as a big fuck you.
Maybe actually paint some other remarks about the falklands on their car. You know, just to piss on them for real this time.
They should do the rest of the episode in the Falklands as a big fuck you.
knowing Clarkson that's entirely possible.
Maybe the argies should just accept that they lost, and have literally zero claim to the Falklands.
They should do the rest of the episode in the Falklands as a big fuck you.
With Union Jacks waving in the background all the time.
With Union Jacks waving in the background all the time.
I can imagine them being like "Well now what?" "Falklands?" cut to them drifting around the falklands or something
Except not fake.
Was that actually confirmed fake?
They do little jokes with number plates quite often so I reckon they knew
PLEASE go to the Falkland's!
-snip cant find a good joke
I want Top Gear on a different channel where they have more creative freedom, i mean every year i get to hear a story on /r/topgear about the Top Gear team being stopped to do something because the BBC gets in the way. But yeah, no BBC no funding.
They used their top military hardware to drive them out this is a new war
I'm pretty sure there's similar license plates driving around in Argentina but the owners aren't as wealthy as the BBC.
As bad as it is, wanting to provoke the Argentinians over the war is just as bad as they are for pelting the crew with stones and making them leave. A lot of people were killed in what I see as a pointless war, principle was never worth the lives of all those people.

The privately owned channels would probably be even less inclined to go along with the shit they stir up (intentionally or otherwise) and would care much more about viewing figures and people boycotting the series. Unless it is a cable subscription or something, BBC is probably the best option.

Familys lost fathers, brothers, and sons in that war and now some guys come down to make a "subtle" reference to be funny to their audience. I'm not saying the native populations are right, mind you, it's never right to attempt to harm someone even if they offend you.
I'm interested to see the episode. I wonder if it'll even air
They do little jokes with number plates quite often so I reckon they knew
is it a good thing I got the joke as soon as the license plate got shown :v:
Wait, Clarkson drove a Porsche? I thought he didn't like Porsches and was constantly ripping on Hammond for liking them.
