• Screen turns purple when playing any game!?

When playing any game I own be it Starcraft 2 or Counterstrike, everytime I get past the menus and into the game it will be perfectly normal for 2 or 3 minutes maximum and then just crashes to a glitchy broken up purple or green screen. This happens everytime and is very annoying as I haven't been able to play games for weeks now. These are my specs: Q6600 @ 2.4 - CPU Gtx280 - Gfx Corsair 2Gb x 4 - RAM 2 x 320Gb - HD;s Hope someone can help.
What are the temps on the graphics card? It sounds like it is overheating and artifacting. Also is it overclocked?
It's not overclocked either. I thought it would be overheating as well but I don't think it's running too hot?
If that is idle then probably not, do you have any load temperatures during a game?
I can't get into a game long enough to be able to take a temp reading before it crashes, if we assume it is temperature then what can I do about it? I've had the computer nearly a year and don't see why it would start doing this now when it hasn't had a problem with temp before?
Have you given the inside of the computer a dusting? If you can get hold of a can of compressed air then spray everything inside to get rid of the dust. 2 Tips; Don't turn it upside down and spray and don't spray into the fans without restricting their movement as they will spin very very fast and could break. [editline]04:46PM[/editline] Another thing you can try is to download Furmark, enable temperature logging and see how far you can run this and see the temperatures which are on the graph on the screen.
I did the furmark thing and it went to 87 degrees within 3 minutes, is that normal?
Reading some articles it seems like that is normal for your card. The only other thing I can suggest is a reinstall of drivers.
87 degrees is still pretty hot for a card though. Whether it normally heats up to that isn't really the issue, you should be trying to keep it as cool as possible.
