• MSN 9 Stereo Mix Not Working, Help!

I just updated to MSN 9 and now Stereo Mix is not selectable from the microphone list. Stereo Mix is enabled so I have no idea whi I can't use it as a microphone. Does anyone else have this problem? Or a solution to it?
Nope.
Apparently this is disabled in Live Messenger 9 due to copyright reasons and some other crap.
Connect a cable from your sound out to your mic jack, it will do exactly what stereo mix does.
That's why I didn't update. I saw it removed stereo mix on my netbook.
Bump. Any work around for this?
Go back to 8.5.
Go back to 8.5.
Meh, that version forces you to upgrade to 9. plus it doesn't work with windows 7 superbar at the bottom.
How the hell can stereomix be copyrighted anyway? It's not ALWAYS used to play music, and hell.. People can do that with their microphone too, just in worse quality.
What is stereo mix?
What is stereo mix?
It's what your computer uses to play sounds, so when recording with stereomix you'll receive about 99% of the quality that's coming out of the speakers, instead of firing up the mic in front of the speaker, where you are more likely to get 10-15% quality. (I know, not that much but when using smaller and larger numbers it helps people understand :P)
*Image*
Really now? [editline]09:07PM[/editline] And what does this have to do with msn?
Really now? [editline]09:07PM[/editline] And what does this have to do with msn?
absolutely nothing. highly irrelevant to the topic
Apparently this is disabled in Live Messenger 9 due to copyright reasons and some other crap.
LOL, for like 1 or 2 days i had stereomix recording working fine on msn 9 ! about 1week ago, it just suddenly chose it self to pick up stereomix i hadnt changed anything i checked the recording to see what it was using and it was on DigitalIn (Realhightek definition audio) but next day, still i changed nothing it just stoppd working again.. msn's weird, ino its msn messing about cos other programs are fine using stereomix as its microphone, so i duno what to do now
It never worked on mine either, but it randomly started working one day, I'm trying to remember what I did...
Sorry for the bump, But has anyone found a work around?
Use Virtual Audio Cable and the re-router that comes with it to route Stereo Mix to a virtual cable and select that in MSN. Don't know if it will work like that, i have everything running over a mixer.
Just get audacity, and set your recording source to stereo mix. Then start MSN and it lets you voice clip/conference using stereo mix.
Bump, anyone find a work around for this? ^ The Audacity thing isn't working for me :c
i am familiar with this problem! and you can find it through the whole internet and on all sorts of forums! there even are video's how to handle this situation on youtube xD though not all of the problems are the same and need the same solution.. my problem was solved not by updating any drivers or editting any setting at all.. it was solved with an extra cable! i wanted to record directly from my soundcard and not through a external mic as quality gets lost in that way! i don't know what ports you have available and what ports you are using.. but if you have 2 ports free you can maybe solve the problem the way i did as well?! i have a 5.1 surround set on my blue(line in set to back speakers), green (headphone set to front speakers) and pink(mic set to middle & woofer) ports at the back of my pc which still leaves me 2 ports free @ front of PC one green and one pink. just plug in this cable in the ports! http://img.alibaba.com/photo/1173050...sion_Cable.jpg or any similar cable of course (jack to jack cable) (make sure you have the setting on that you're having one of those ports play the music you normally play as well, and the other port as mic in) you might need to check for a setting "let the the audio devices @ the back & the front of the computer play the same audio stream" hope this will solve some of your problems..
I actually wrote a blog post about how to get stereo mix back in MSN(WLM) 9 a while ago. It can be fixed with a few registry changes. The post can be found here.
I know precious little of StereoMix, but google just showed me a few things, it looks like it does pretty much what i make Sound Record (standard on my Vista) do? just set it to record what comes through the sound card.. sorry if this is off topic.
