So I saw this picture on the net and something told me that I could turn her into a mermaid. So I did.

I made this

It took me maybe 20 minutes to perfect it, although it's far from perfect. What took the most was getting the tail perspective right. But it still looks a little ehh. All well. It's a pretty basic shop though, so I'm not going to argue with the results.
I then decided to take it one step further and put her on the beach. Looks like shit. Spent nearly 40 or so minutes trying to get her to looks as if she belongs, but I am not good at that, so I settled on this. Shadows and lighting are off. Not sure how to fix it, but whatever.

EDIT:
A 'better' version

Nice, lol. I can see you used the stained glass filter in photoshop, but in a good and creative way. Also your change of lighting on the mermaid in the last picture really makes it blend in well with the background. To make it more believable maybe try adding some fake lights using the light system in photoshop.
Looks pretty awesome, I have no critism for you, it's good.
What a horribly ugly outfit.

I don't see how that contributes to his editing at all.

I'm just saying, the editing is fine, but not orgasmic. In my opinion he could have gotten a better effect by finding a picture of a real fish and copy its patterns instead.

I don't think he could have gotten as high quality results.
Depends on his skills.
Looks cool :buddy:
I can easily recognize the use of the match color tool in the final pic =) CMIIW
Very good.
Now make a merman.

Exactly. I then added a simple gradient over the entire stuff to try to get it to blend a little better. But she still looks like she doesn't belong.
Also, daviddorn, the idea about using the fake lighs in photoshop is not a bad idea. I thought about it while doing it, but never did.
why does she have a drop shadow behind her head :|

Hoyl fuckk. How did I not notice that?
I took it off and she fits much better

I also added a few more details. No one lays flat in sand. They sink a little and make some impressions...
Now it's looking like she fits really well. I like what you did with the sand. Good call TrueWolF, that drop shadow was pulling her out of the picture and making it look a bit unnatural.
