But isn't Battlefront essentially Battlefield but in the Star Wars universe?
But isn't Battlefront essentially Battlefield but in the Star Wars universe?
The gameplay was more arcade-like but in general, yes, very much Battlefield inspired. Large teams fought each other on large maps to control points of conquest while using preset classes and vehicles to wither down the enemies tickets. Not that thats a bad thing, Battlefront 2 is one of my favorite games of last gen.
Just sounds like they're saying what they think we want to hear. Doesn't mean they can't still screw it up royally... Will still hold back my excitement until there's something tangible we can analyze and pick to pieces. There's so much potential here.
As long as they make seemless space to ground and space to ship combat I wont care if its battlefield with a star wars skin.

Destroying Death Star or just an Imperial Star Destroyer with awesome graphics would be fucking amazing.
I hope they have the deathstar trench run, even if it may not fit battlefront.
Zero G combat, breaching the hull of enemy ships and entering. So much shit could be done with Frostbite 3.
Is Battlefront 2 PC still active? That was fun shit.
dice if you fuck this up like you fucked up BF3 i'll slap you
But that's what we want you numbnuts!
Is Battlefront 2 PC still active? That was fun shit.
There's a few servers left with people on it.
dice if you fuck this up like you fucked up BF3 i'll slap you
How did they fuck up BF3?
I wonder what their take is on destructible environments. It would be really tight.
I just want Galactic Conquest back. Especially with how 'persistent online games' have been pretty buzzword-y at E3, I could see some large-scale thing like that happening.
How did they fuck up BF3?
yes
Battlefront 2 was an amazing game but I felt they could have done a much better job polishing it and following the lore. Here's what I had problems with: -A lot of weapon models were overused. The Empire E-11 blaster rifle model was used as a shotgun, a blaster rifle and a lightning caster. This problem occurred for a good amount of heroes, the Republic and the CIS as well. -Uniforms were misused and wrongfully attributed. The Clone Commander, for example, was modeled after the regular soldiers from the Galactic Marines regiment, in both design and color scheme. Engineers for the Empire and the Rebels wore starfighter pilot uniforms, despite mostly being in charge of speeders and turrets. Several other small things, such as the Clone sniper on Geonosis wearing red markings identifying him as a captain, ect. The Clones also wore the uniform of the 501st, but fought in areas where the 501st were not canonically deployed. The campaign tried to justify this, but it just seemed rushed to me. -Several vehicles didn't make sense in their use or location. General Grevious's starfighter, for example, ended up being the mainstream bomber for the CIS. Republic interceptors ended up looking like Anakin Skywalker's Jedi Starfighter and were piloted by clone troopers. -In addition, a lot of CIS vehicles, such as the Droid Starfighter, the Spiderwalker and the Hellfire Droid are not actually vehicles but unmanned drones, but the game allowed both clones and droids to embark and control them. This is a little more understandable, as making the unpilotable would ruin the symmetry between the two sides and would make the game harder to balance. In my opinion it wouldn't be that bad, as most maps are already inherently in favor of a particular side, such as Geonosis and Endor. -Some classes didn't really belong or make sense. Mangaguards and Clone Commanders should not have been classes, but should have been implemented as minor heroes. Mangaguards in the lore carry electrostaffs (not rocket-launchers) and only accompany extremely important figures as bodyguards. Additionally, it would be rare for more than one Clone Commander to appear during a battle. Looking at the Galactic Civil War, Dark Troopers saw a very limited window of operation and only participated in battles commanded by General Rom Mohc. Tusken Raiders cycler rifles do not fire blaster bolts. They fire bullets.
dice if you fuck this up like you fucked up BF3 i'll slap you
Battlefield 3 was good though.
I think they want to convince fans it won't be a "copy and paste" job with some changes, being it EA. Plus, they want it to sell it on it's own ground.
Thank fuck Holy fucking shit
Battlefield 3 was good though.
Could have been a lot more though. However, the hype for features I wished BF3 had are finally materializing in BF4 so at least they learned from their mistakes.

now that we're discussing destructible environments, i sure hope the trenches on Hoth can be shot to piles of snowy mud, and that the trees on Endor can be brought down. of course i don't mean all of them since most of them are so gigantic that you'd need some proton torpedo-caliber shit to bring them down, but most of the minor foliage should be destructible
I'm kinda hoping for a story driven singleplayer campaign in this, through the perspective of different people.
Doesn't Patrick Bach work for DICE's main team? I though DICE LA was developing Battlefront.
How did they fuck up BF3?
I guess you were as hyped about it as I was. [editline]13th June 2013[/editline] And it was pretty fucking disappointing. The Fall of 2011 was probably one of my most hated times of game. Uncharted 3 was sub-par, Battlefield 3 was one of the most disappointing things I have ever played, and Skyrim was pretty disappointing. Maybe not as disappointing as BF3 was, but still disappointing. All I can imagine is a big ass tree on kashyyyk getting knocked over in real time during a MP match or an entire enemy space frigate getting destroyed, falling into the planets surface and crashing outside the map somewhere.

[editline]13th June 2013[/editline] Also, John Williams better be doing the music, since it wouldn't feel like a true Star Wars game without him doing the score.
... BF3's campaign ...
Uggghhh, I really did not like the fact they totally ditched the usual Battlefield "single player mode" for a campaign. I didn't feel like I was playing battlefield anymore, I felt like I was playing CoD. :/ I know that I could have just played online, and I do, but that's beside the point. If I wanted a story, I play CoD, or basically any other game in existence, but not Battlefield. Why can't they go back to how it used to be back in the days of BF1942 and the original CoD. Where if you wanted a story to follow, close-quarters maps, and relatively short multiplayer sessions, you played CoD, and if you wanted all-out war on a large scale, you went with battlefield. Bah, I miss that. /PersonalRant
