Pay for a good ending? Stupid.
EA has just announced Mass Effect Infiltrator for iOS, a companion app that will help boost your "Galactic Readiness" in Mass Effect 3. Increased readiness will help enable players get the best ending possible in the trilogy's finale.
Possibly the most manipulative strategy I have ever seen to sell a product, it is essentially blackmailing you with the threat that you will get a bad ending unless you buy it. I really love Mass Effect but the closer to launch between this the figurine DLC, the art book, DLC the exclusive collectors edition DLC, the retailer exclusive DLC and the inevitable 2 weeks after launch DLC I really just don't want to have anything to do with it. I really detest the way this is being handled and I hope it blows up in their face because if all games were handled in this way I would just stop giving a shit. When did games start requiring multiple purchases to get a complete experience.

When did games start requiring multiple purchases to get a complete experience.
Mass Effect 3 is a vastly different game than Mass Effect 1. The fact that they're gearing it up for non-RPG players with the "action-only" only further exemplifies this. With this notion in mind, you have to realizze that this game is trying to bring in a larger fanbase than just those who enjoyed the series. It's why they're saying "you don't even need to play the first two to enjoy Mass Effect 3." This and the multiplayer are gimmicks in their own sense, but they're also not even fucking necessary. They're small additions that speed up your gathering of resources so you can get the better ending faster if you're the impatient type. With that in mind, though, there's still so much to do in Mass Effect 3 regardless of multiplayer or this app. You can still play through the entire goddamn game and get a great ending, and feel that awesome satisfaction. This is just an easier way out for those who don't care about the story or are impatient and want to see the story finish faster. In in no way inhibits or compromises the actual fucking singleplayer game. [editline]7th February 2012[/editline] I'M SICK OF THIS SHIT
I guess I really can not judge whether it is important or not (and it probably isn't) until I have played it but I can't help being put off by the way they are posing this as a way to help get the best ending rather than it being affected by any decisions you have made throughout the whole series.

However, it's also accessible to newcomers to the series with things like this app.
FUCKING all of THIS. I'm hoping none of this will make a bad game, hoping so hard I started to bleed, but I'm prepared to be disappointed.
I doubt that anything will go wrong with it. A lot of people are overhyping it, and with that hype comes huge expectations. Of course, there's a lot wrong with that kind of mentality. Instead of demanding x amount of features and criticizing anything that isn't in line with your beliefs, you should take the game for what it is: a kickass game developed by a kickass studio that always pulls through with their promises. I've set my bar around where Mass Effect 1 and 2 put it, which is a good standard in my opinion. Point is, Bioware isn't going to fuck you over with ME3. It's going to be a phenomenal game. Ignore the overhyped fanbase and take it for what it really is: a great game.
Sorry, I couldn't hear you over the sound of me biotically charging headfirst into a group of enemies as a vanguard to take on my enemies with my godammed fists and shotgun, up close and personal whilst you sit over there behind cover and take potshots.
wouldn't be surprised if he got augments like the illusive man because of being a cerberus operative and all
I may be wrong, but I think one of the comic books claims his eyes are like that [sp]because he's partially turned into a husk.[/sp]
