During a segment on Monday's "Morning Joe," Brzezinski was reading a headline from the teleprompter about a gas incident at a convention in Illinois when she came across a term she wasn't familiar with, slowing down awkwardly and eventually pausing to ask, "Did I get that wrong?" "What's a furry?" co-host Joe Scarborough echoed in apparent bafflement. Willie Geist ultimately had to take over as Brzezinski and Scarborough broke out into laughter -- realizing what exactly the convention had been for -- and the segment ended with Brzezinski running hastily for the door.
:v: [sp]let's watch facepunch furry brigade pile-up boxes on this thread[/sp]
I feel as if it is an appropriate response, get as far away as you can.
More like its fucked that they are laughing at people getting internal chemical burns just because they think the convention was funny to laugh at. Oh im sorry they are furries so its okay to laugh because they are so silly, especially when the people involved had to be sent to the hospital for just trying to have fun with friends.
the shot of her running away was so perfectly timed
Can't blame them, it's basically a freak show :v:
By some metrics I am a furry myself and I have to admit I would probably struggle a lot if I had to report on a furry convention with a straight face.
More like its fucked that they are laughing at people getting internal chemical burns just because they think the convention was funny to laugh at.
I think they are laughing at the concept of furries as opposed to them being gassed like seriously put yourself in the shoes of someone who doesnt know what a furry is, if you get told that there are people that get off to cartoon animals/want to fuck while wearing mascot suits, you're probably going to laugh pretty hard
that's pretty fucking unprofessional had they even looked at what they were presenting before they went live? edit: not sure why I'm getting dumbed so hard? it would have taken them all of ten seconds to look up what one was beforehand and atleast make it through the section still in their chairs edit #2: didn't realise it was a talk show, I deserve these

They were reacting just to the video feed. Not that the video feed wasn't bizarre on it's own.
Props to the one guy who tried to keep his cool while the others laughed their asses off. That'd be hard to do. [sp]He's secretly a furry[/sp]
More like its fucked that they are laughing at people getting internal chemical burns just because they think the convention was funny to laugh at.
They're laughing at the term "Furry" and what they do. Jesus Christ, do people try this hard to be offended by things?
More like its fucked that they are laughing at people getting internal chemical burns just because they think the convention was funny to laugh at.
they aren't laughing at people getting burns though? they are laughing at what being a furry is
More like its fucked that they are laughing at people getting internal chemical burns just because they think the convention was funny to laugh at.
Except it is pretty funny if it's your first time seeing it and it's something you have to report on completely out of the blue
that's pretty fucking unprofessional had they even looked at what they were presenting before they went live?
no one likes furry fags ;)
they aren't laughing at people getting burns though? they are laughing at what being a furry is
there's much weirder cons out there and its pretty unprofessional that they are laughing when its something that's as serious as people literally coughing up blood. Its like if a office was shot up and they found out the shooter was a furry and laughed at it because lmao furry. Its extremely unprofessional and fucked up.
Honestly I'd probably have trouble keeping a straight face while attempting to report on a furry convention as well. Like, people said some hateful things in the other thread, but there's a difference between saying that you're happy they got attacked and laughing at furry as a concept. The latter isn't really unreasonable.

Sure, you might not like it but they aren't laughing at people getting killed or anything like that, they are laughing at the concept of the furry fandom, get the stick out of your ass.

If you think all newcasters are gonna be stuck up do-goodies that can't have their moments of weakness, you're sorely mistaken. They still got the point of the story across.
Apparently from what I've heard there was only enough chroline to make a pool-like smell and make a few unlucky souls too close to it vomit, and I'm a furry, so using these reasons I'm allowed to laugh at this and not feel bad. You can be racist to your own race you're allowed to do that you can't take this away from me

During a live news broadcast about 19 people getting poisoned isn't really that time.
There's an appropriate time to laugh at something you find ridiculous. And let's face it, while unprofessional, they were probably only laughing at the concept of the fandom. Do note that they didn't outright say anything about the victims deserving it or insinuating that they did in any way. Honestly I think it's best we bury this before it becomes another shitstorm.
There's an appropriate time to laugh at something you find ridiculous. During a live news broadcast about 19 people getting poisoned isn't really that time.
So what? What's the next point of this argument? It's not cool but everyone does it at some point in their lives, same with everything else.

Its like if a office was shot up and they found out the shooter was a furry and laughed at it because lmao furry. Its extremely unprofessional and fucked up.
It's literally nothing like that.

Its like if a office was shot up and they found out the shooter was a furry and laughed at it because lmao furry. Its extremely unprofessional and fucked up.
Why don't you try telling the story to someone else who never heard of furries. "Yo Average Joe, you see the news about a furry convention getting gassed?" "Gassed? Wait what's a furry?" You would then probably describe to the person what a furry is. What their reaction is, I can't say. Yeah it sucks that people got seriously injured, we know. Don't take it so personal. Besides, in your example people would have reported the shooting as "Mass Murderer in Office while Wearing an Animal Suit", not that it was a furry.
There's an appropriate time to laugh at something you find ridiculous. During a live news broadcast about 19 people getting poisoned isn't really that time.
They were laughing at the people in those costumes. How hard is that to figure out?

You're not gonna be focused on anything else but that. You can try, but it wont happen usually. Human nature overpowers professionalism
What
Don't try to wrap your head around furry logic, it's a down hill spiral with no end
So this is a fantastic thread already. Chock full of shitposters and people who never left the early to mid '00s.
