Yeah this is fucking dreadful I am so fucking disappointed. Firaxis quite literally sank to the level of EA and Ubisoft with this release. Assassins's Creed Unity which is renowned for it's horrible performance on release ran better at release. Hell, at least you could play that one.
it sounds like something on your end, even if there are horrible performance issues the game is apparently a big improvement over the original in every way
Yes, performance issues across the board for a lot of people is an issue on my end. And where did I say the game itself is bad? I'm pretty sure the game itself is great but the performance is just dreadful.

Yeah but it's pretty hyperbolic to say that they sank to the level of EA and Ubisoft.

Seeing as the press release copies ran fine on most reviewers machines it's probably an unexpected performance issue, I wouldn't really compare them to Ubisoft that knowingly releases buggy games.
If you're playing XCOM with a controller when you've got it running on a PC then I'm a little confused. Do you stir your coffee with a fork?

I assume it's for Steam Machines or just PCs hooked up to a TV in general. I use my Steam controller pretty much exclusively with my Steam Link.

The controller support in XCOM EU was actually pretty good.

A play on words.

The Steam controller is a bit different. Games that would barely work on a standard controller like the 360 work quite well when configured correctly for the Steam Controller. I've played multiple matches of Dota on it perfectly fine, and Civ V is comfy as hell when you don't have to sit upright with a keyboard.
