Why the hell is this game 50gb? Isn't it multiplayer-only with standard AAA visual assets?
Why the hell is this game 50gb? Isn't it multiplayer-only with standard AAA visual assets?
Textures edit: apparently audio
Textures
Textures that don't even look that good. The game has 35GB of audio files, so the texture's are not that big.
35GB worth of audio? christ :v: atleast we shouldn't get repetitive lines.
Textures that don't even look that good. The game has 35GB of audio files, so the texture's are not that big.
Holy shit
Textures
It's apparently audio because they make you download every fucking language (not my images)
It's apparently audio because they make you download every fucking language (not my images)
holy shit that's really unnecessary, why couldn't they just offer optional language pack downloads?
This was on Origin instead of Steam? Oh, well that's not really great news. I hope you guys have fun with it though :(
I wonder if it's possible to delete unwanted languages or will the game just have a bitch fit if you try.
This was on Origin instead of Steam? Oh, well that's not really great news. I hope you guys have fun with it though :(
What's wrong with Origin? It works fine, and honestly, it freezes up a damn sight less than the steam client does. And don't forget their 'Great Game guarantee' or whatever the hell it was, that lets you refund games within a week of purchase or a day of first play. On a side note however, such a bummer I won't get the money for this until friday. No pre-load for me.
This was on Origin instead of Steam? Oh, well that's not really great news. I hope you guys have fun with it though :(
Why does that stop you from getting it and playing it?
Why does that stop you from getting it and playing it?
Steam elitism
What's the story with Australian servers? That and the price are the only things putting me off buying it.

I just don't want to accept their terms of use in order to play games I have purchased. It's nothing wrong with Origin, I did try it once and the client actually seems very neat in itself. It's really just a matter of privacy, and Steam cares more there than Origin seems to do.
Steam elitism
It's okay to be mad at them for using Origin instead of Steam but it's not okay to say that something actually prevents you to play the fucking game
It's okay to be mad at them for using Origin instead of Steam but it's not okay to say that something actually prevents you to play the fucking game
It doesn't prevent me from playing the game either. I could surrender whatever rights I have to EA and use their Origin service, but I prefer the Terms that Valve has you sign when using Steam. There's nothing wrong with Origin as a client and service, just as there's nothing wrong with Steam as a service. Each a great services, I just prefer the latter. That's all there is to it.
your loss
What privacy issue are you talking about?
The last time I was checking out Origin, they would send statistics not mentioned in their terms, to the EA servers. Later on it seems that this was added back in, but they still don't ask you before doing it as far as I can see. I don't recall any sort of opt-out options for these things either. I prefer to know what data is being sent to these companies, and when it is being sent. Steam allows you to opt out of these things, and also allows you to review the data that is being collected.

VAC doesn't even abide to the privacy policy, since Valve has to be so secretive about everything it does.
What privacy issue are you talking about?
He's probably talking about the bullshit from a long time ago when people were trying to slander Origin by saying it's stealing and selling your information [editline]10th March 2014[/editline] Wow, didn't realize I had that reply typed up for so long... I should press "Post reply" sooner.
It's apparently audio because they make you download every fucking language (not my images)
This image despite it not being yours, screams laziness in their part. Their inability to deviate the languages, so the game only needs to download one Language? That's pathetic. 35gbs of audio files for ALL the different languages.
You guys scream that everything now isn't next gen, but you all bitch when a game is over 10gb download. Jesus, 50gb isn't even that much.
You guys scream that everything now isn't next gen, but you all bitch when a game is over 10gb download. Jesus, 50gb isn't even that much.
35gbs of audio since it downloads every language is retarded and unnecessary. [editline]11th March 2014[/editline] Also not everyone has unlimited bandwidth.
You guys scream that everything now isn't next gen, but you all bitch when a game is over 10gb download. Jesus, 50gb isn't even that much.
People have bandwidth limits. It's stupid, I know. People also have 1mb/s connections. People also don't want to download every single language for their game, when they're only going to use one. How ridiculous that people bitch at such a 'minor' inconvenience. If you ask me, this is a pretty big one.

The average connection speed worldwide is a 15 MBPS download speed. Which means many more people can handle the large download no problem than can't. This one be an entirely different story if the game was only available download only.
Holy shit
same reason why MGS4 took the whole blu-ray 50GB disc size, Uncompressed audio.
If I actually bothered with multiplayer games I would probably pick this up. And I don't give a shit about origin, it's a mild inconvenience to have to use several programs for certain games (same way it's a mild inconvenience to have to launch the sluggish mess that is steam every time I start my computer), but if there's a good game on it I won't give a shit if it's on origin.
You guys scream that everything now isn't next gen, but you all bitch when a game is over 10gb download. Jesus, 50gb isn't even that much.
50GB is a lot when 35 of them are literally useless data. It's not that much of a problem, but I'd be pretty annoyed if all the games I own took up that much space. With a 1TB HDD, that'd mean you could only have like at most 15 games installed at any given time (you need space for other things too), which would kinda suck. And sometimes I just want to download games quickly. Like if I want to play on my laptop, or if I borrow someone's Steam account to play some game with my friends, etc. Also this isn't "next gen", this is just bad optimisation.
