Allen West: Social Security Is ‘A Form Of Modern, 21st Century Slavery’ by Josh Feldman, Mediaite.com Congressman Allen West appeared on Fox & Friends today to discuss America’s waning freedoms and how to reclaim them. One such example he offered was Social Security, and given how more people went on Social Security disability last month than new jobs that were created, West said this was creating an “economic dependence” which he classified as “a form of modern, 21st-century slavery.” West said that since 2008, liberals in the United States have gone from “hope and change” to much more divisive rhetoric in order to separate Americans along gender lines, sexual orientation, and income level. Host Dave Briggs brought up recent comments West made exactly one week ago about President Obama, namely that the president would “rather you be his slave.”
I want to give this man a dictionary.
As someone who lives on the disability funding he claims is slavery; My fucking ass. You have to fight like fuck to even get on it, much less keep it, and even then it's $700 a month. Let him say that once you break both his legs and take away his fucking $300,000+ he has in bank accounts and any hope of ever working again.
Are you owned and treated as property? Then you are not a fucking slave. I'm tired of politicians and intellectuals talking about how we are enslaved, or how someone is going to enslave us. We do not fit the definition of slaves. [editline]10th July 2012[/editline] It's such a cheap fucking ploy to give some weight to an argument that probably has little merit to begin with. I can't fucking stand it.
West said that since 2008, liberals in the United States have gone from “hope and change” to much more divisive rhetoric in order to separate Americans along gender lines, sexual orientation, and income level.
this raises a good question, why do Americans think class isn't a real thing?
this raises a good question, why do Americans think class isn't a real thing?
Because every poor american thinks he's a millionaire in a tough patch rather that being in fucking poverty.
this raises a good question, why do Americans think class isn't a real thing?
It isn't that they don't think it's a real thing, they believe that it is one of those things that is fixed by being ignored. [editline]10th July 2012[/editline] They have a very idealistic view of it. If we stop looking at people based on race, or their sexuality, or their gender, then the problems associated with being a minority goes away.
see this is why it sucks that slavery doesn't exist on a public level in the west anymore because dumb motherfuckers now have no idea what the fuck slavery even is, and they have full license to draw dumb comparisons between obscure facets of modern political systems and the institution of slavery.
That's right Allen! Social Slavecurity, Medicareless, and even Daylight Slavery Time are all part of the Gangster Computer God Worldwide Secret Containment policy! You've revealed it! HAHA OBAMALONGADINGDONG! LAUGH YOUR MAD GIGGLE NOW
this raises a good question, why do Americans think class isn't a real thing?
Sane, lower class Americans generally recognize the divisions. Of course the people on the higher end of the class spectrum aren't going to acknowledge their superior position. Guess they don't want to think about all of the people below them propping them up, goes against that whole 'self made' idea.
what about wage slavery?
The word slavery is used to garner support by bringing up horrific times in our past. Wage slavery doesn't exist because we are not legally property. We are not chattle. Now there is a very real phenomenon that people call wage slavery, but this phenomenon does not fit the definition of slavery.
It's not slavery, but there is something to be said regarding the fact that if you give people just a big enough piece of the pie, they accept it and never want more. There are a lot of people who sadly will take X dollars a month in a monthly check and never question that this is all they'll ever live on. This is why some families get caught in a cycle of poverty. If you grow up being raised by a parent, or parents, collecting a check then it makes it that much more likely YOU will raise your kids on a similar check. Next thing you know, your family will have been living that way for generations. Of course the hard question he doesn't ask is "Is the problem that too many people are collecting disability or is it that there are too few jobs for the people who aren't on disability?" Something tells me that if this were a healthy economy then we'd have more people working and paying into SS and disability claims wouldn't even be an issue. In fact, we'd probably be able to increase SS payments to account for cost of living increases while we're at it. But it's easier for the rich guys to just blame the people who are struggling.

The act of giving social security or welfare does not actually solve this problem, but it does alleviate some symptoms of the problem. To say you can solve poverty by just giving people money is asinine, but it doesn't make giving people money the wrong thing to do. Education should be the main focus in more ways than just public schooling. Mental health and comprehensive physical health care must be provided. People need to have the confidence and knowledge to find work. People need to have the ability to elevate their position in society to the point where they no longer have to rely on the welfare or social security systems.
you know who else said things like that? hitler do you agree with hitler?
You know who else said Hitler? Hitler. [editline]10th July 2012[/editline] Wait, fuck.
you know who else said things like that? hitler do you agree with hitler?
You know who didn't like Hitler that much? Yea, Stalin. Go send some more people to the gulags, asshole.
You know who didn't like Hitler that much? Yea, Stalin. Go send some more people to the gulags, asshole.
pfft, nice try, vanilla ice, trotsky is the one who hated hitler this much.
You know who didn't like Hitler that much? Yea, Stalin. Go send some more people to the gulags, asshole.
I'll get the popcorn.
i called you vanilla ice because i think that fits the theme of horrible things in history
I don't think I can actually top Vanilla Ice as far as atrocities goes, so I abdicate.
i called you vanilla ice because i think that fits the theme of horrible things in history
Every time someone hears the opening of "Ice Ice Baby" thinking it's gonna be "Under Pressure" and then it's not, that is like an entire new Holocaust happening.
He is aware that the alternative to Social Security is leaving the old or disabled to go bankrupt, starve, and die, right?
He is aware that the alternative to Social Security is leaving the old or disabled to go bankrupt, starve, and die, right?
Guy doesn't care. He's a pawn and gets paid to say stupid shit.
