Before Islamic extremists brutally beheaded an American journalist on camera, they demanded $132 million in ransom from his family and his employer.
Islamic State (ISIS) terrorists began sending the serious messages to James Foley’s family and the GlobalPost last fall, Philip Balboni, the news agency’s head, told the Wall Street Journal.
At first, the infrequent messages made political and financial demands. Then, last week, the fighters sent a hateful email saying Foley would be killed.
“The message was vitriolic and filled with rage against the United States. It was deadly serious," Balboni told CNN. Foley freelanced for GlobalPost, a Boston-based international news agency, before he was kidnapped in Syria in 2012.
Attorney General Eric Holder spoke out against the demanding terrorists in a Thursday press conference.

ISIS needs a new accountant, because I'm pretty sure the average middle class family doesn't have 132 million dollars on hand.

Maybe it was a bargaining strategy? You know, want a kitten, ask for a tiger first.

132 million dollars is still a lot compared to what they could realistically get out of them. At the most, they'd probably get 100,000 or something similar.
-wrong thread-
IS is the richest terrorist organization in the world, 100,000 is a paltry sum to them
They are pulling in a million dollars a day in revenue from their controlled resources.

learn how hostage negotiations happen
they always start with a high number
pay them with $132 million worth of airstrikes
132 million dollars of freedom is headed their way, probably more.
pay them with $132 million worth of airstrikes
1000 hellfire missiles
pay them with $132 million worth of airstrikes
One fueled up trip for one F-35 with payload?
heyoooo
Didn't know ISIS was headed by Doctor Evil.
132 million dollars of freedom is headed their way, probably more.
Freedom is priceless (so they got infinity freedoms on the way)
$132 Million in bombs and/or missiles
preferably dropped on their heads
Wow they're even bigger assholes than I thought!

Yeah I'm sure they'd drop their price by over 100% percent.
I fucking hate these fools.

I think they might have been asking the US government by proxy, no?
They probably realised that the killing of the James Foley only enraged people further and was not seen as any sort of threat at all and therefore asked for money instead of the air-strike halt.
There's no excuse for killing an innocent person that has nothing to do with the airstrikes in Iraq. Plus look at all the innocent people they've killed for their supposed god.

They will go on killing more innocent people for their supposed god because their supposed god supposedly approves of such things in the Word His angel supposedly gave to their Prophet.
I'm pretty sure they set it that high with the intention that they couldn't pay it.
They probably planned to kill him from the start, so they just set incredibly unrealistic goals just so they could say "Well you couldn't deliver so this is what happens"

They probably knew that America wouldn't ransom him either, just to make a point that America could care less about its citizens.

And with that comes their justification, and the cycle repeats.
Which is ridiculous when, if that's their point they are showing just as little care as they claim America has for them. But it's not like I really expect their logic to make sense when they are killing innocent people.
Funny update for you guys. The man who claimed that they will plant a flag inside the White House was killed recently.

yeah drop from 132 million to a couple hundred thousand
you won't look like the worlds largest pushover and have your reputation ruined forever lmfao
And the US will deliver it to them, 500 pounds at a time.

That implies they need money, they're far from poor.
All because they're a bunch of genocidal bastards doesn't mean they aren't intelligent and calculating.

What are you dropping on them? Actual planes?
Even if for whatever reason they did get paid the $132 million, Foley would have been killed anyway.
