A spoiled Texas teen who killed four in a drunken driving accident dodged prison and was sentenced to probation instead after defense lawyers argued his wealthy parents never taught him right from wrong. Ethan Couch, 16, was facing 20 years behind bars for the horrific June wreck, but instead walked out of a Fort Worth courtroom Tuesday with 10 years' probation. What a Dumbass. Hope he never touches drink again for the safety of society.
Well, did he know right from wrong or did he not know?
So they're letting him off from punishment because he was never taught right from wrong. Outstanding logic.
Got ten years probation just because they think his parents never taught him right from wrong? If your sixteen, you already should know by now that drinking and driving does not mix. Anyone who drinks and drives, kills four people should be sent to prison. No matter how old they are.
Never knew right from wrong? What about a guy who grew up in a rough neighborhood thats only seen thievery and gang violence would he get the same treatment? Disgusting
Jail should teach him right from wrong
"Driving drunk is bad and you shouldn't do it" I wouldn't think someone has never heard that
A witness for the defense, psychologist Dr. G. Dick Miller, blamed the boy's parents. Local authorities said the crash scene was among the most gruesome they'd ever seen. Miller testified that Couch was the troubled product of a broken home who got whatever he wanted from his wealthy parents and didn't understand consequences. Miller called the teen a victim of "affluenza," a rich-kid syndrome that led him to believe money solved everything.
And you know what, not sending this prick to jail for killing four people will really help showing him that money doesn't solve everything.
I feel bad for the friends and family of those 4 who died. I'd be outraged.
I feel bad for the friends and family of those 4 who died. I'd be outraged.
If my family member got killed by a drunk driver and they got away with no jail time, I'd probably murder them out of sheer rage.
Well, either this whole ordeal has taught him something or, still being a spoiled idiot, will violate his probation some how and end up in jail anyway. 10 years is a long time. How people have so little self control and common sense is beyond me.
My uncle was suppose to go with his friends one night to go have fun. He missed them cause he was running late, The car flipped over and all 4 died They couldn't tell why it flipped but part of the fun was going to a bar, Drunk driving scares the shit out of me. And my uncle is one of my closer family members so I couldn't imagine losing him.
The fuck kind of defense is that? Isn't there something along the lines of "Ignorance of the law does not protect you from the law."
I hope he gets hit by a truck.
He'll do it again and get off scot-free. Just you fucking wait.
The fuck kind of defense is that? Isn't there something along the lines of "Ignorance of the law does not protect you from the law."
Might as well be in this case: "Ignorance of the law does not protect you from the law unless you have big bags of money"
Guessing he got away because he's considered a minor. Total bullshit.
Might as well be in this case: "Ignorance of the law does not protect you from the law unless you have big bags of money"
Welcome to America.
It's even more sickening when you read about the victims. Three of them were helping a woman on the side of the road, A mother and daughter living nearby that came to help, some youth pastor that passed by that also stopped to help, and the woman whose car was disabled. Not to mention, one of the victims is also paralyzed and unable to talk, and another with other serious injuries. Seriously, this is probably one of the more infuriating things I've read in SH in quite some time.
Well, did he know right from wrong or did he not know?
That doesn't even matter. Drunk driving isn't a fucking moral debate.
Miller called the teen a victim of "affluenza," a rich-kid syndrome that led him to believe money solved everything.
Wow, psychologists have even made being rich into a disorder (that conveniently can spare you jail time). What will they think of next?
he should be charged with quadruple manslaughter
"Driving drunk is bad and you shouldn't do it" I wouldn't think someone has never heard that
If he had a license, there's no way in hell he wouldn't, driving classes take that stuff pretty seriously, and they're required (At least at his age). Though if he could get away with this, I'm sure his parents would've been capable of just bribing someone for a license.
he should be charged with quadruple manslaughter
If you kill someone in the process of committing a felony, that isn't manslaughter, it's murder.
MAH FREEDOM
money rules the world
I wonder what would I be like if I was born rich. Would I be a disgusting sack of shit too?
Chances are, he'll fuck up in his probation and then he'll get to serve the full sentence.
Wow he paralyzed one of his friends too. That's some heavy shit.
