(CNN) -- A missing Ohio State University football player has been found dead, authorities said Sunday. Kosta Karageorge, a fifth-year senior, had missed practice Wednesday and hadn't been seen since. Sgt. Richard Weiner, with Columbus police, said that Karageorge, 22, died from what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The 6'-5", 285-lb. defensive tackle's body was found inside a Dumpster and identified at the scene through tattoos, Weiner said. A handgun was also recovered at the scene.

Last week, Karageorge's parents told police that their son had complained about concussion symptoms before he disappeared. In a copy of the missing persons report obtained by CNN, Susan Karageorge told police she received a text from her son about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday that said, "I am sorry if I am an embarrassment but these concussions have my head all f***ed up."
Really tragic story. Thoughts are with the family
Almost seems like too drastic of a action to justify blowing your brains out. And why in a dumpster none the less? Seems fishy.

I have a buddy that suffers from depression due to football related concussions. I've only had one from playing, thank god. Seeing what he's gone through is tough. Completely changed his life. He's had about 7, so imagine what this guy had being in college.
I remember last year when Paul Oliver killed himself because of how many concussions he got playing.
I've played football myself, my traps and form have always kept me from concussions bar a few close calls that left me seeing stars. Numerous friends of mine have anywhere from 2-7 (one has two ambulance trips from concussions) and they are all doing fine as far as i can see.
so he climbed into a dumpster and then killed himself? at least he's considerate, i suppose?

1) get a gun 2) nick targets phone 3) come up with a feasible reason why they want to kill themselves 4) send a message with that reasoning to their relative 5) shoot them in the head, leave no fingerprints on the gun 6) dump them and the gun in the dumpster 7) nobody suspects anything?
Your traps have prevented you from getting concussions. wat
Yeah they are pretty gnarly. With no neck support (traps) when you hit someone or get hit (he'd be hitting someone as a D tackle) it helps to keep your head in place and almost acts as a shock absorber. On the worst of hits where I was very close to a bad concussion my traps hurt for close to a week but my head was fine. I was a defensive end with a scolarship lined up to a university this year, i will agree its hard on your head, harder on your body, and the hardest on your will/mind. Trying to balance life, school, and income all the while dealing with the tole on your body from it, and for what? A 50k a year job to play football (this is in canada, US is much more different). There more to football than a couple hard knocks and heavy hits. How did he end up in a dumpster?
How did he end up in a dumpster?
if you already feel like trash it isn't a big step to climb in and be one w yourself
if you already feel like trash it isn't a big step to climb in and be one w yourself
i genuinely cannot tell if this is serious or not

It is not as easy to fake a suicide as one thinks if it is actually investigated fully.
Your traps have prevented you from getting concussions. wat
valon kyre is probably one of the most heavily-built and muscled posters on this entire forum, the guy is an IRL titan if anyone knows stuff about being big and getting hit its probably him
At second glance this could easily be murder.

There is a lot of stuff that would point it out. 1) They would probably check the messages on the victims phone 2) Trajectory of the bullet would be wrong 3) There wouldn't be powder burns/residue on the hands of the victim or close to the wound 4) If the bullet did exit the head then the trajectory of the bullet could prove the victim didn't shoot himself in the dumpster 5) The victim wouldn't have cadaveric spasm in the hand, showing they didn't hold the gun at the time of death.

Exactly what i was thinking
I understand what you are trying to say, but because concussions are based off of sudden deceleration, I have a hard time believing that the size of your traps actually has a significant impact on players ability to get concussions, because if you have bigger traps it is just going to mean that your head has less space to decelerate, bigger traps probably would help with neck injuries though. Also when you are wearing pads a person with large traps and small traps are going to have about the same neck movement due to the pads. I think your body mass and the ability to keep your momentum going after a hit has a much bigger impact than anything else. The point you made about your form was spot on though. Source: Am also a defensive end in high school, all league, playing at the next level, etc. [editline]1st December 2014[/editline] Actually this argument is stupid, I'm way more interested in your high school career. I thought I was the only one on Facepunch who even played football, but another DE... small world, or maybe Facepunch is just bigger than I thought.
