[release] TROY, N.Y. (AP) -- New York police say a college employee inadvertently photographed himself planting a motion-activated camera in a women's locker room at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. They tell local media that 56-year-old Thomas McMartin, of Hoosick Falls, was arrested Friday and pleaded not guilty to felony charges of unlawful surveillance and burglary. McMartin declined to comment. The college says he was fired from his job as a heating and cooling supervisor and barred from the upstate New York campus soon after the camera was found. Troy police Capt. John Cooney says the camera was installed March 8. It captured still images of several women changing before one of them noticed something wrong with the ceiling. He says there's no evidence of any earlier spying or other cameras, but the investigation is continuing.[/release] http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_HIDDEN_CAMERA_COLLEGE?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT At least check the bloody thing before running off.

Is there anything similar to the Darwin Awards for criminals who do something profoundly stupid? If not, we need one.
Is there anything similar to the Darwin Awards for criminals who do something profoundly stupid? If not, we need one.
There are similar books on idiot criminals, as well as World's Dumbest Criminals on TruTV. The books aren't as famous as Darwin Awards though.
Is there anything similar to the Darwin Awards for criminals who do something profoundly stupid? If not, we need one.
It's called THE SMOKING GUN'S WORLD'S DUMBEST CRIMINALS, and it's terrible. Edit: beaten by seconds Edit 2: I find it hilarious that one of the hosts of World's Dumbest Criminals is Tonya Harding. . .one of the world's dumbest criminals.
Gotta love it when criminals give the cops all the evidence they need to arrest them. Makes their jobs that much easier. :v:
I find it hilarious that one of the hosts of World's Dumbest Criminals is Tonya Harding. . .one of the world's dumbest criminals.
That's... er... the premise of the show...
That's... er... the premise of the show...
I wouldn't exactly call Adrienne Curry a criminal, unless being unfunny is a crime.
pleaded not guilty to felony charges of unlawful surveillance and burglary
They have his picture and he's still pleading 'not guilty'? Either the man has some serious balls or is SERIOUSLY lacking a brain.
Why would you plead not guilty when videos or pictures are involved and you're in them. Just plead guilty and admit up to it.
Amateurs. Psshht
Why would you plead not guilty when videos or pictures are involved and you're in them. Just plead guilty and admit up to it.
I think some people live under the hope that they'll either get off on a technicality or that some how they evidence will come up short.
They have your picture. Just own up to your crime like a man.
He put a hidden camera into a women's locker room, he's no man.
They have your picture. Just own up to your crime like a man.
Usually they plead not guilty because it means you go to trial in front of a jury and they could see a shadow of doubt and get off the charge.
