So I live in an area of the US where these are the only two options available.
My question is, which one should I go for the best value? And what plan?
I'm trying to get the cheapest plan, I currently have U-Verse TV+Internet package at the moment, so I don't think those promotional prices apply to me anymore :(
I use the internet a lot of HD streaming and downloading large files, I also game a lot.
I'm currently on the 6MB "Elite" plan for U-Verse internet, and I've been noticing ping spikes in games such as CS:GO, on a game like that, it makes the experience unbearable.
I've been looking at the Comcast "Performance" plan for a while now and was wondering if that was worth the value.
I searched up some user experiences and it seems that people note that Comcast equipment is outdated and their service isn't on reliably, but they offer extremely higher speeds compared to AT&T.
Some insight would be useful, if it helps, I live in Connecticut.
U-Verse internet is crap. Comcast is also crap, but slightly better crap.
U-Verse is diarrhea, XFinity is wet poop.
XFinity has terrible support and they try to get you to rent modems(Buy your own, don't rent).
Back when I had them, the outages weren't as bad as the stories I've heard, but they definitely have outages more frequently than they should.
The speed boosts are nice when you're downloading a relatively small files. But if you are downloading a file that will take a while, speed boost will fade quickly after the first parts of the transfer.
Alright, thanks you two, I'll wait for more replies.
I guess I'm leaning towards Comcast as the best of the two.
if only google fiber..
anyways, Xfinity is all I can get that's decent. their support here is decent, any probs I can get solved quickly, and receive a credit for any days that my stuff broke.
but do buy your own modem/router. the stock one costs like $7 more a month, and blows balls.
i went and spent $70 on a new modem, and 120 on a Asus Router, best thing i've ever done, i get so much better signal and speeds.
speeds are good, I DL from steam at 6+Mb/s so It takes next to nothing for games to download, and I only pay 100 a month for HDTV service and 50Mbs package net, free HBO and streampix for 2 years too.
they have a lot of perks, and many ups, but I noticed it depends on the area for Xfinity. Some have great service where as some are just garbage, overall i'm happy with them here.
