FFXIV in Steam Overlay: 1 FPS
Where's "Fixed steam overlay breaking every other time you try to open it, preventing you from reopening it unless you restart the entire game"
where is "fixed steam using 100mb+ of ram while idling"???? Or "fixed steam turning your computer into gridlock traffic while downloading"?
Where's "Fixed steam overlay breaking every other time you try to open it, preventing you from reopening it unless you restart the entire game"
When HL3 comes out
where is "fixed steam using 100mb+ of ram while idling"???? Or "fixed steam turning your computer into gridlock traffic while downloading"?
Origin uses even more ram than that 100mb is hardly THAT bad unless you are running a potato from 1999 and if you computer is slowing down when you download something you need to seriously fix it, I think. Your computer is broken, mate.
Overlays are very performance intensive. Unless the counter can be seen while playing the game and not only while using the overlay, you really shouldn't take it seriously as a benchmark.
Where's "Fixed steam overlay breaking every other time you try to open it, preventing you from reopening it unless you restart the entire game"
not trying to 1 up anybody or anything, but if you go in taskmanager and kill the process gameoverlay_ui.exe it resets itself when the game realizes it's not up, usually after that you can open the overlay again useful for windows users anyway
I hope steam adds the ability to have an fps counter for all games I'm kinda sick of having fraps
That is what this is?
where is "fixed steam using 100mb+ of ram while idling"???? Or "fixed steam turning your computer into gridlock traffic while downloading"?
This may have been a valid complaint 8 or 9 years ago when 1-2GB was the norm but now it's really a non-issue. My steam uses about 85MB idling and about 105 when downloading a game, with a skin [editline]4th January 2015[/editline] Spotify and SpotifyHelper use nearly 300MB while idling
I mean outside of steam as well, bad wording
That doesn't really make any sense. How would steam add an fps counter when you don't have steam open? Unless you mean you can use it on non-steam games you've added to your library and are using the overlay with, in which case I think it does this already.
Does the counter show when the overlay is minimized?
where is "fixed steam using 100mb+ of ram while idling"????
Mine is, as I type this, using 45mb of ram to run the client and three tabs of chat. Nexus Mod Manager uses more memory for fuck's sake.
Or "fixed steam turning your computer into gridlock traffic while downloading"?
Your internet is at fault if downloading with it causes complete and total uselessness of your internet. Not your computer, not Steam, your net. Steam's downloading software is exceptional and it can easily saturate your connection. It's supposed to do that, after all don't we all enjoy fast downloads?
Oh. So I guess my computer is a shit box. :suicide:
All I want is more steam overlay compatibility with older games, and games that use a launcher through steam :(
I've kept it on in all the games I've played, and it's so tiny I forget it's there until I force myself to look at it. Much better than a big yellow fraps counter or something completely bloated and closer to the center of the screen corner.
What about support for 64-bit non-Steam games? Now that I think of it, pretty much no overlays (Mumble, Steam) work on 64-bit games. Why the hell is that? I read that Mumble was "working on it" from some years old post but then there's been nothing about it.
All I want is more steam overlay compatibility with older games, and games that use a launcher through steam :(
I run Elite: Dangerous on Steam using the launcher, and the overlay works just fine in game.
my steam also uses 100mb of ram but i think thats due to the fact i have like 300 friends
Where's "Fixed steam overlay breaking every other time you try to open it, preventing you from reopening it unless you restart the entire game"
Not discounting the annoyance, but to speed things up for yourself Alt+Tab, Task Manager > Processes, Steam Ingame Overlay > End Process > Re-enter game The program restarts itself.
How would this work with games that freeze or suspend themselves when you turn on the overlay?
How would this work with games that freeze or suspend themselves when you turn on the overlay?
It's not just in the overlay, it'll always be in the corner of your screen when you turn it on
It's not just in the overlay, it'll always be in the corner of your screen when you turn it on
Just like steam messages you get that do not pause the game but still display.
Is it just me, or has this update somehow drastically improved performance on older/slower systems? Just tried playing Burnout Paradise on my old Athlon II M320 + ATI Radeon HD 4650M laptop, went from 20-30FPS average to 30-50 FPS average doesn't make much sense to me, though
Took them long enough to figure that out!
I hope in the future we can have CPU/GPU usage, RAM/VRAM usage and so on.
The counter doesn't show up in PixelVision :suicide:
