Yea, I figured as much with the announcement that it's going to be cross buy between Xbone and PC. Without even reading the article I'll take a guess that it's Windows 10 only. Piss.
Oh hey, i didn't want to play it any way.
So they don't want a majority of players to play it?
Y'know, it makes a fair lick of sense that Remedy are the guys to make Quantum Break. After all, they're the guys behind the first two Max Payne games, which embraced the notion of Bullet Time. So it actually seems like a natural progression to give us more time-manipulation toys. Seems also that there's a bit of time-based puzzling in the mix, too. Not exactly Portal levels of puzzle, but fair enough.
I'm still going to purchase the game and play it.
While dumb, it's understandable for their needs. It would be easier to keep track of crossbuy through one central MS account than an MS account and a Steam account. And it's also less annoying because you don't have to launch Steam, then launch a 3rd party client just to play your game (like Uplay).
And hey, Steam isn't the end all and be all of acquiring video games on PC. Blizzard and their fanbase seem to be doing just fine without it, and any alternatives to Steam, big or small, are more than welcome if we want Steam to become better than it is right now (which a lot of us do).

Not playing it just because it's not on steam is pretty dumb reason

Considering its recommended specs, i guess not.
i'd rather it be available through steam, i like to keep all my games in one account if possible (fuck you ea, close down origin).
i'd probably still get this, remedy hasn't let me down yet.
The whole "Its not on steam so im not going to play it" is a pretty dumb reason. Immature even. Still buying and playing.
Having all my games in one place is nice. But that's the only reason this is an issue. Platform loyalty is dumb, especially considering what a shitty company Valve are. Honestly taking it objectively, I think Origin is a more functional client.
So one day we're all bitching "Gawwwd steam's such a monopoly, they're totally scummy these days"
the next day we're angry we can't buy a game off steam?
I know a vast number of people are responsible for each individual opinion that has congealed in my head as a mess of shit but it's a bit much sometimes

the people who bitch about how much of a monopoly steam is are just dumb and also they have no idea what a monopoly is
yeah I'd see it if steam was buying out the competition left and right and trying to force everyone out of the market but unless you're delusional I'm not seeing this
I'm talking about the people who aren't exaggerating, but literally stating it's a monopoly.

the people that don't care have little reason to comment. it's always a safe assumption that the people complaining are in the minority.
I avoid steam already but it just looks too cinematic for me.
That one part with the pieces of the bridge moving all over the place is such a turn-off.
Not playing it just because it's not on steam is pretty dumb reason
Not if the storefront you do have to use is a pain in the ass to use by comparison.
I mean I guess I'm still going to buy it because it's a Remedy game and damn near guaranteed good, but I wish I didn't have to use the Windows Store for it. I've tried the Win10 edition of Minecraft and I guess it works well enough, but I'd prefer a storefront of games as opposed to a storefront with Minecraft, Tomb Raider, Quantum Break, and then a bunch of half-assed mobile apps I'll never use on my PC.
Not playing it just because it's not on steam is pretty dumb reason
No but you reach a lot of people with it. It's not like people are refusing to play it because it's not on steam but, a lot of games are terribly informed about games and if it doesn't pop up on their mainly used DRM and download plattform, they won't even know that it exists.
A smart move would be to have the game on a majority of all plattforms or offer it in the same way, Ubisoft is offering their games on Steam.
Not playing it just because it's not on steam is pretty dumb reason
I'm not playing it simply because it's Windows store exclusive. I'm glad it's not on Steam but an actually good service such as Gog would be a far better choice.

You're completely insane if you think a AAA developer would ever put their game up on a DRM-free service.
I have no problems with it not coming to steam IF the windows store didnt suck a giant dick

this, expect anything outside of xbone sales to be comparably low.

Well they're not getting my dollar under any circumstances then. Their loss, not mine. There's plenty of other games out there I can play.
lol you guys need to put the blame in the actual hands at fault, valve's cuts off of games are unrealistic for most AAA publishers to deal with to appease a bunch of stubborn kids who wont accept anything else
lol you guys need to put the blame in the actual hands at fault, valve's cuts off of games are unrealistic for most AAA publishers to deal with to appease a bunch of stubborn kids who wont accept anything else
Valve's cut is less than Sony and MS's cuts on PS4/Xbone bruv.

What a poorly informed and factually incorrect objectively wrong statement you made.

Why's valve at fault? What's unrealistic about their cut of sales? Do you even know their cut of sales? Do you know it's just "kids" and not anyone else?
Think about the shit you're saying man
One minute you're bitching steam is ruining gaming the next you're saying these guys are shit for not using steam?
One minute you're bitching steam is ruining gaming the next you're saying these guys are shit for not using steam?
Steam as a storefront has a lot of problems, but it's pretty much the most popular one and it would be a little bit weird to not have your game in the storefront with the most eyes.
Valve's cut is less than Sony and MS's cuts on PS4/Xbone bruv.
quantum break is a first party microsoft game, they lose nothing from outside company cuts on xbox one

lol, great argument. you're 'factually and objectively' in denial

how you try and refute one word of it instead of dismissing every single word as a baseless claim. they take up to 30% off of each sale, with a minimum of 5% iirc. do you actually think microsoft would lose the steam sales of people who are unwilling to buy off of any different store if the cut valve took wasn't drastic enough? think about the shit you're saying.
