Huh, is it just me or does the combat look a bit better now?
They're really generous in show casing pre-Alpha footage
it looks like a third person hack and slash
they could have shown more dynamic flow of animations for sword swings
or dynamic combat that isn't scripted to take place
it looks a bit like dark souls'
interest intensifies

Ach, it looks responsive, but i really wanted DA:O's Neverwinter esque combat not hack n' slash. :(
“Lots of focus on timing,” recommends BioWare senior gameplay designer Josh Stiksma. “Lots of focus on when the player should be reacting to this, and when there’s an opening for the player to come in and basically slaughter this guy from behind or something.
"Basically slaughter this guy from behind or something". Jesus fucking christ you have got to be shitting me.

These are the same god damned stupid fucking "button awesome" shit that ruined 2. They come up with an idea they think sounds cool, don't think it through, then shove it into the game only to find that everything has turned into a clusterfuck.
Baaaaaaaaaaah. They have no idea why people liked Origins so much.

yes we loved it for being unresponsive and sluggish
[everything about the combat in Origins felt awful, unresponsive, and incredibly flimsy. it had no redeeming elements whatsoever

Nah dude, people liked it because it was an RPG ass RPG game. This whole focus action action action stabby bloody decapitation is not what I look for in these kinds of games.
Dragon Age isn't about twitch reflex super responsive fast paced action. It's about tactics, party management, and team synergy. It's about taking a bunch of different abilities and tools and exploiting them in order to conquer seemingly impossible challenges.
If you want an awesome action game, there are plenty of those. Try Rising Revengeance or Dark Souls. Because those games are built from the ground up to be action games, whereas Dragon Age is an action game with the tumorous bulk of what once was tactical combat still clinging to its bloated frame, hamstringing it as both a twitch reflex action title and as a tactical party based RPG.
So..they talk about strategy but all i could see was hack n slash gameplay?
i liked DA2 Combat it was slightly less like the first one but it felt much more satisfaying
Just because it has hack n slash gameplay doesn't mean it can't have strategy.

It looks like they tried to do a combat system like Dark Souls but completely missed the point.
What an utter disappointment this has turned out to be.

Probably won't be as bad as 2.

Bioware has done the impossible before.
