Asked whether there was any risk that Russia could lose its right to hold the tournament due to the complicated political situation, Putin said: "I hope not. (World soccer's governing body) FIFA has already said soccer and sport are outside politics and I think that is the right approach."
Even if Putin changed his mind, no one would accept it in Russia.
Way to keep your priorities straight, your highness. Don't you have some minorities to save in the Ukraine or something?
Russia won't loose it as no Football association in the world has the bollocks to boycott the event, at least if they did that they could force Fifa's hand and make them change it/reconsider it but they won't.
Didn't FIFA say they weren't going to strip them of the World Cup? They also said the Soviet Olympics should not have been boycotted.
Russia gets to keep the World Cup, but we'll change the rules. Whoever wins gets to keep Crimea.

Now he's playing an innocent sheep of himself
Russia gets to keep the World Cup, but we'll change the rules. Whoever wins gets to keep Crimea.
Then you'll just find every other team dead in their rooms from radiation poisoning.
Didn't FIFA say they weren't going to strip them of the World Cup? They also said the Soviet Olympics should not have been boycotted.
Well I mean anyone who gives them a big old fat bag of money shouldn't be boycotted for all they care.
I have a feeling we're going to look back on the Winter Olympics as a 1936 kind of thing.
"Don't get in our way you weaklings, we have nukes. Don't mess with us! ...by the way you're still going to let us host the World Cup, right?"
I have a feeling we're going to look back on the Winter Olympics as a 1936 kind of thing.
A technology impressive olympics which has built an amazing track and stadium to completely outdo the previous summer olympics along with new broadcasting technology to broadcast the olympics on video? Tbh sochi wasn't that impressive oh you mean the dictator stuff But corporations such as FIFA aren't good or evil, they're about money. If something will aid them financially, they will do it.
