Two 30 minute black and white propaganda films in 1936 were found by Australian director Philippe Mora, who is prepping a feature length documentary on how the Nazis used images to manipulate reality. Mora broke new ground with his first film "Swastika" when it was released in 1973 featuring previously unseen color footage from Hitler's "home" movies shot on a 16mm camera by his mistress Eva Braun at the Berghof mountain retreat at Obersalzberg in the Bavarian alps. Now he has discovered that the Nazis were decades ahead of Hollywood in developing a medium first popularized in the 1950s and now enjoying an international renaissance. "The films are shot on 35mm -- apparently with a prism in front of two lenses," Mora who is at the Berlinale for his planned $13 million 3D biopic on Salvador Dali, starring Alan Cumming and Judy Davis that he plans to shoot in Germany, Australia and Spain. "They were made by an independent studio for Goebbels' propaganda ministry and referred to as 'raum film' -- or space film -- which may be why no one ever realised since that they were 3D." One film, a musical set during a carnival entitled "So Real You Can Touch It" features close up shots of sizzling bratwurst on a barbeque; the other "Six Girls Roll into Weekend" has what may be UFA studio starlets living it up. "The quality of the films is fantastic. The Nazis were obsessed with recording everything and every single image was controlled -- it was all part of how they gained control of the country and its people," Mora said. He plans to incorporate the material in a 3D section of his documentary -- working title "How the Third Reich Was Recorded" -- and is convinced there is more vintage 3D footage out there to be found.
http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118032274?refCatId=13
.....So wait....they were ahead of us, even with movie theaters?
People seem to underestimate the genius of the science during the Third Reich. If it hadn't have been for the evil agenda, Germany would've been regarded as the most intelligent nation of their time, especially since Oppenheimer would've likely stayed in Germany to develop the nuke.

Proof that 3D is evil!
Fucking Nazi Super-science. :science:
Germany, didn't win in domination. But were first people to Alpha Centuri...
Yeah, but the evil agenda kind of motivated a lot of the science and engineering in Germany.
Indeed, for example nearly all the knowledge we have about human survival conditions in freezing water comes from Nazi experiments on Jews. You can imagine how those experiments fared. Or so I've heard.
so when do I get to see hitler in 3d I don't care if I have to do an hour of eye crossing 3d.
Indeed, for example nearly all the knowledge we have about human survival conditions in freezing water comes from Nazi experiments on Jews. If they sell copies, I will own every single one.
Also from Unit 516. Basically a lot of useful tech came from dastardly experiments during WWII.
You mean 731 right?
Oh right, well Unit 516 was another one, 731 was just much higher profile. Men Behind the Sun is a creepy ass movie.
The 3D Reich? The major sources of scientific advancements: War, Propaganda, and Tits.
I couldn't care less about 3D, I want to see all this color footage :buddy:
if you watch 3d movies you are a nazi!
Amazing, simply amazing. This calls for one of those (incredibly used and abused) Hitler parody vid...
Well, they were up there with (modern) Japan in terms of R&D. Could you imagine a 40's version of Avatar??
That's not all that they have done. The Nazi's also built the pyramids. Not aliens the aliens that created us, as you may think. Remember when they were experimenting with the manipulation of gravity and time? And our alien creators are actually the Nazi's after millions of years of evolution.
master race
"Whoa! It's like I'm really seeing millions of Jews being killed right in front of me!"
They're on the moon now, I don't see why they don't have 3D
I couldn't care less about 3D, I want to see all this color footage :buddy:
Actual color footage. http://youtube.com/watch?v=0Zong6rFlnY And maybe some music added for taste. :smug:
Germany was pretty cool, except for you know, the genocide...
Now he has discovered that the Nazis were decades ahead
As always.
The Third Reich continues to impress.
Germany was pretty cool, except for you know, the genocide...
Are you implying that genocide isn't cool? :colbert:
"international renaissance" And by "international renaissance" they of course mean "last ditch effort to wrench audiences back to theaters and simultaneously squeeze them for more money".
3D is not even worth it. I watched 3D movie once and then watched "2D" version of it (before you ask, it was Avatar), the usual version was much more comfortable to watch.
Psssssh. They would have made you use those red and blue glasses.
