This is a quick question. Someone just quickly look in their steam copy of HL1 (non-source) and tell me.
I play only source games on steam. I'm thinking of getting a steam HL1. I already have the source version.
My knowledge so far.
My WON retail CD version: 1.0
Latest official WON patch: 1.1.1.0/protocol 46
Latest un-official WON patch: 1.1.1.2/protocol 46 "WON2" --this one is considered warez by most people. Big no no.
Latest steam version: ?????
Thanks in advance,
KD007
It's version 1.1.1.1, according to the version number shown by looking at the properties of the its .EXE, so that should be the answer.

Hmm... thanks for that. But I wouldn't trust the version in the EXE's header. It is common that devs forget to update it. Try typing 'version' in the console. My WON version outputs:
Protocol version xx
Exe version x.x.x.x
Exe build: {time} {month} {day} {year} (BUILD)
Ok done, it's:
Protocol version 48
Exe version 1.1.2.1 (valve)
Exe build: 16:05:41 Jun 15 2009 (4554)
There you go.
Thanks a bunch. I can see why it has to be a new protocol altogether (compared to my 46). It has cooler stuff like HTTP downloading. I'm so getting it.
